Hello All
Just want to check with you if you think this will work and my logic makes sense. I'm looking for a classic rock sound, more led zep than ac/dc but able to do a good old blues sound which I really got into recently, also the age I am (30) I have a love of '90's grunge (more Pearl Jam than Nirvana)
I have a PRS tremonti SE which I'm looking to up grade the pups got cheap secondhand as I really liked the neck. I'm thinking that as it's all mahogany guitar and quite thin body (1 3/4"), the advice on other threads regarding SG's would be applicable here.
With the above all in mind I'm thinking AV Mule bridge and AIV SM for neck.
I think this will work well and be quite versatile. Have I missed something and would be make a big mistake?
I listened to the clips of riff raffs which though very good are not really quick the sound that I'm looking for, though this could because they mainly AC/DC style which isn't my thing
Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Cheers
Cos

That will give you most of the sounds you want. The SM will let you get a lot of the classic clean blues sounds and the Mule will rock. The AV will add a bit of brightness which will be good in a mahogany guitar.

I guess neck SM will be cool for a very open tone such as it's necessary to do a proper Zep ballad.
For the neck you could go for more several options. I had good results with a VHII in a PRS SE Singlecut. This is not a compressed pickup, so you can still do that 70s rock and blues, but it's also got balls for some AIC/Pearl Jam kinda stuff.
Anyways, a Mule bridge is never wrong either :O)
Maybe a good idea to also ask Tim's opinion via sales@bareknucklepickups.co.uk

I'd certainly go with the AIV SM in the neck. I'm currently thinking about replacing my Emerald neck with this pup as I'm finding the Emerald neck just a little to hot a lot of the time.
For the neck I'd be looking at 3 choices. The Mule will give you that all round performance and is probably a 'safe' option.
The Emerald bridge, I can't praise highly enough. It will compliment the all mahogany body of your PRS SE and give you a warm sound with enough high's to cut through the mix.
The last option is a bridge Rebel Yell. The RY sounds great in every clip I've heard and also looks to be a very versatile pup - capable of doing classic and modern rock and more.
If ... sorry - when I get my Patrick Eggle Berlin I'll be putting a set of RY's into it :D
