I'm curious about that town...
Possible to survive around it without a car? I should drive soon anyway.
-
Depends how you feel about roundabouts really. Parking is expensive, and on shopping kinda days, its rather congested to say the least.
The little kind of villages / the housing parts are ok.

I'm doing a job there by the train station. Last week, I was trying to find my out and had to turn left at 4 consectutive roundabouts. In theory I should have ended up back where I started, but ended up in the countryside.
I can only presume that it sit's on some sort of dimensional rift.
Oh, from what I remember as a kid, there were a fair few nice women.
-
Not the greatest of places imo haha

Hmmm. maybe if you favour chav couture. :? Or perhaps you were looking through beer goggles?
-
the home of marshall... thats the only good thing i can say about it.....
-
it has concrete cows.
that's a good thing by the way
-
Its known as one of the most tasteless places in England :D
-
It's depressing. thoroughly depressing. I don't go there any more.
-
it's one big $%ing roundabout! :P

:D I have family that live there & i go into MK quite regularly. You will need a car. They have all the shops that everybody else does. The cinema complex is fun & the cinema is comfortable, with all the usual films that are every where else. Like most places its been completely bar-stewardised so it could be anywhere in the country. There's no real distinctive places that stand out. My nieces are both in the early 20`s & there seems to be plenty of clubs & pubs etc. Loads of restaurants etc. Housing is being built all the time, and there quite expensive. As for low level chavs i`m afraid everywhere in the country is blighted with them and MK is no different. But there are some very nice areas there to and by and large its actually quite a nice and quite area to live. Oh and its built on a grid system which is why there are so many roundabouts, but once you learn how the system works its quite straight forward.

Christ if you think MK is depressing, you should visit Hatfield. It's the armpit of britain. The only other place that's as bad is Luton
-
I don't know Hatfield, but I'd have to agree that MK is preferable to Luton.
-
I used to know Hatfield on account of my ex-wife having rellies there. I guess that one of the benefits of the divorce was not having to go there any more. As for MK, been there a few times and it is a nice place to leave. It is uninspiring but in fairness, there are worse places in the UK.

Mansfield! Having been there I can understand why so many people there take drugs... :)
-
The good thing about MK is the roundabouts. On a motorbike it was like a GP circuit, I used to love it. As for the rest of it its wank.
-
As for the rest of it its wank.
That seems to sum up the general consensus of opinion around here...
But guys, are you all forgetting Xscape!?!?
Indoor snowboarding/skiing, and a decent guitar shop in there as well.

As gay as it sounds, there is a funny laser shooty type thing they do there, its great. I slid from the top to the bottom on my arse! with a phone in that pocket which ceased operation rather quickly

I had a job their a while back..... and yes, it's a dive. Seen worse though.
Where in Derbyshire you from?

:D the music shop in MK is Sound Control there OK if they have the stock in otherwise there utter sh*t. I had a guitar stand on order for 6 months and every time i went in there they would tell me it was only 2 weeks away !
In the end they had to reimburse me. Total waste of F***ing time. Most of there products are aimed at the bottom end so they can compete with the internet shops & Ebay. Just don't believe it when they tell you it`ll take 2 weeks when ordering.
As for MK it gets a lot of bad press but there's an awful lot of people living there and house prices are very stable and theres plenty of work. Mind you its all poverty pay work but were isnt ?
Not all of these peole can be wrong can they ? Don't believe the negative hype go see for yourself and keep your expectations realistic.

-
Ahhh, my wife is from Buxton.

^Buxton where the bottle water comes from?

Can't comment much on MK, but Luton is a hole  .
It's not that there is anything much wrong with it as such, it's just so bland. Which makes it even worse, it sucks the life out of you and eats you up till your just an empty shell.
The best thing for me about luton, I get to get out of here in 6weeks

Indeed, Luton is awful, especially traffic, atleast with Mk and the roundabouts its ok. I am just across the border from you then I guess, in the Holy land (well, Buckinghamshire :P )
