In the last few issues of guitar mags ive bought, there has been lots of talk about BKP's. In several issues of guitarist they have mentioned the pups in an SE one. This current issue has a whole page on the guitar and the BKP transforming the sound.
One of the questions in the back asks about PUP upgrades and again BKP's are mentioned.
Its nice they are getting the recognition they deserve.
Maybe I should put this as a second post but there are lots of posts in this forum about what pup will do this or that or what would you recommend type posts.
The descriptions are good but maybe we should do some clips of each pup doing some standard lick or chord progression and then there are clips to directly compare them to. I notice on S Duncan website and other manufacturers there are lots of like clips so you can easily listen and distinguish what it is your after. I think although there are lots of clips on this forum they are all over the place and having comparison clips would be very useful?

Not a bad idea - I think that several members have actually taken the time to try this, recently with BKP single coils as I remember.
What will happen with all this widespread fame and fortune for BKP? I'm pretty sure that Tim will struggle with the "personal touch" that he currently does so well... That would be a shame, but probably a natural consequence of making the best Go'damn pickups on the face of the planet.

i dont post much on any forum at all, but ive noticed over the past 6 months the talk about BKP's has just skyrocketed.
and for good reason 8)

Or maybe a Bass, Middle, Treble chart for each one? And output?

We're looking at a 5 band visual EQ chart as well as stylized demos too for the new site which is 'finally' nearing completion.

If memory serves, the frequency response will be divided into Bass, Lower Midrange, Midrange, Upper Midrange, and Treble.
-
thats a good division. the 3 band dimarzio style bands is kind of useless... and i'm not keen on the duncan demos - they're very tiring to listen to.
i'm pleased bkp is going their own way with this - and a very sensible way too i think

Estimated time of completion?

That'd be great!

Completion...............it all hangs on me cutting myself a breathing hole. We've got as far as bringing in a fantastic web design company who have overhauled the whole look of the site, I'm currently working on new copy for the whole site which is a herculean task as I don't simply want to rehash the old site and we've new pics being done as we speak. As for the new demos Geoff Whitehorn and I have been looking at how best to present each pickup in both clean and dirty clips which will show exactly what they sound like in their most obvious applications .Steve Stevens is also going to contribute a new clip and possibly some other artists too. There's alot of work still to do and I'd hate to say exactly when it'll be finished-all I can say is we're going as fast as we can although as usual we've a serious amount of orders on the go which always has to come first.

Looking forward to it, Tim. More of an excuse to browse my favorite subject rather than work...

The new BKP site has been doing a bit of a 'Chinese Democracy' on us... Hopefully it should actually happen soon!!
-
I remember asking Tim about the EQ chart a while ago and he said it was part of a major website overhaul so I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
Oh and in the same issue of Guitarist - they have a "50 greatest tones" section and a viewer nominated Santana and namechecked the Abraxas pickups saying it gave him a great Carlos tone.

Yep!
I saw that =D
Was a pretty respectable article actually.

It was indeed, some of the song examples for artists were a bit... weird though.
Guitarist is so much better than Total Guitar, it's not even close.

Speaking of Guitar Mags, in the States, we mainly have Guitar Player, and Guitar World. I am wondering if i will soon see BK ads in the back, or better yet on the gear section of the accompanying CD with Guit World
I wish one of 'em would interview Steve Stevens and ask him what PU/s he uses. That would be all it would take, possibly.

Probably not, as they are heinously expensive.
I would think that if BK put ads in any US mags, it would be Vintage Guitar. The readers of that magazine are generally very tone saavy (and well heeled enough to afford BKs).
