I cant believe you have your budgie sat next to your amp. The little bugger will be death shortly.
-
I take it clones don't count, so I won't post pics ;)

Here's mine:

It's a late 80s 100w JCM800 2210 head and stock 1936 2x12 cab.
I also have a rack system with a Marshall JMP1 and a Marshall EL84 20/20 Stereo Power amp, but I don't have any pics of that yet.

I genuinly have no idea
But basically it was one of the prototypes Marshall did when they were trying out cosmetics for the Handwired Series. Basically, I assume its the same innards, but the outside isn't quite the same. Either way it kicks serious ass. Very tight, and with the "deep" switch on, its seriously "oomphy".

i'm liking this thread! :) marshall may not be what they used to be, but the vintage modern show they can still get there finger out, and to speak the truth - DSL and JCM900 weren't so bad. i'd love to own a vintage modern... but i'll never sell that JMP.
-
interesting that the VM is getting so much love now, when it 1st came out it went pretty much un-noticed for a while

VM was overshadowed by JVM. I still think the DSL is the better choice if you need a channel switcher, haven't heard a real good JVM clip yet, but quite some great VM and DSL clips.
-
the VM is quite a nice amp I think the layout confused a few people coz it's essentially a 4 input control setup with blend knobs for the pre-amp sections (old Volume controls), yet it still has a gain control thats and a post pi master volume.
it's something like
Pre Volume, Pre-PI x2 Master Volumes, 1x Post PI Master volume
very strange setup, but I suppose it gets the results? I think the VM is a much nicer amp than the JVM. But I must admit I'd not trade my 800 for one.
As for my guitar it's an early 80s Schecter, the pickups are Mules. it came with single coils but they weren't brilliant.

I quite like this JVM clip - http://www.greazyspoon.net/clips/Black_Nite.mp3
The lead tone is pretty good :)

DSL's are great!
I am looking at the VM with keen eyes though ...

Just curious, why do you have the cab on top of the head? doesn't that cause heat issues?

I'd guess so the cabs higher up so can project the sound a bit better?

I'd imagine because the head is alot wider than the cab and doesn't wanna risk it falling over?

the cabs on top of the head, so its pointing at my ears ;) i think we all know from experience the difference that can make, espeically being in a small room with a 1x12.
its all on a modified TV/VCR stand. i don't have heat issues - but there is plenty of air circulating just above the head. the picture is a bit deceptive, but you can just make it out.

I wish it was my idea - but can't take credit - it was an old girlfriend's. We were walking past a head of rubbish and there was this knackered TV stand there. She said, why dont you put your Marshall on that.. I was like 'what?!' and then she explained it to me. I must admit she had genius inspiration that day. The stand has wheels and everything.
-
Here you go guys = the JVM you wanted. I've now got a 1936 for it and I'm playing stereo through the jvm/ JCM900 Combo!!

my god! that JVM looks like a complicated beast!
i'm not sure its my bag, but it looks impressive, and hopefully it makes a nice sound for you :)

To be fair - I've seen them used for similar things
Someone I knew used one to make an inverted router table - kind of like a spindle molder for making pickguards and stuff - pretty clever
With all the big screen/flat TVs coming in there will be a load of these old style stands looking for good uses

Here's my Silver Jubilee with my Ear Candy extension cabinet. Both have Celestion Sidewinder speakers.

Hi Jonathan,
I love the Sidewinders. I got my first one back when they were still made and had it in a Roland Bolt 60 for years. I picked the second one up on ebay, and it is mint! I just got a 15" Sidewinder for a bass cab that Ear Candy is making for me.
I love the way that you can drive them and speaker distortion is never an issue, they let you get the sound that the amp is putting out, but with a nice amount of Celestion character to it.
I was recording with it one time and the engineer said that it was the best sounding Marshall he had heard!!
-
Both my Marshall 1912 (1x12") cabinets have them as does my Rivera 2x12"
I used to have a 200W Marshall bass amp with a 15" sidewinder in it and it was great - regret selling that one.
-
*wonders if I should reveal the shame that is my Marshall avt20*

JCM900 4100 100W Dual Reverb head into a 1936 2x12 with a pair of Celestion Vintahe 30's in.
(now minus stickers - lost - and Smurf - tragically lost in battle :( )
