Hello!
I’m putting together a guitar for the first time and I’m trying to devise a way in which to wire it. I want to go for something very different and am thinking about doing something like this:
Humbucker > Humbucker > Single Coil
What is different is how I wish the guitar to function. What I mean is that for each pick up I would like:
• A separate volume switch
• A separate on and off switch (which would be on the body in the same way as a Fender Jaguar).
• 5 way rotary switch (This of course would only be on the first two humbuckers).
As you can see I’m trying to get a guitar that can do a bit of everything on this. What I need to know is if it’s even possible? If it is does anyone know how I can go about wiring this up? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

the best i can think of the top of my head would be to wire the two humbuckers just like a PRS so you had master volume and tone for those. then have a simple on/off switch between the volume and the jack. Then treat the single coil seperately, send it to its own volume and possible another tone and have another on/off switch between that and the jack.
i dont know enough about the rotary switches to work out how to get seperate volumes and on/off switches for each humbucker but it might be possible :?
i think its a bit tempting to go for a complex wiring scheme when putting your first guitar together but it will probably be better if you go for something simple that you know will work.
personally with a 3 pickup set-up like this i would go for a normal fender 5 -way switch but i might put a neck adder switch in to get all 3 pickups together and bridge and neck settings and i might be tempted to add a series/split/parallel switch to the humbuckers for full/half/quarter power.
thats still farily complex - but its easy to get it to work

Something like this:

??? (Stephen Carpenter signature ESP, the first one, if I'm no wrong)
I don't like it, but...

Ok!
How about if I were to use a single coil in the middle rather than the humbucker?
What would I have to do to still have the 5 way rotary switch on the bridge humbucker? Does anyone have any links to wiring that I could use for that?
Baring in mind that I'd still like to have independent volume and on/off switches for each pick up (I don’t wish to have any tone dials, I never use them).
Cheers for your help guys!
