Help me guys! ive just sold my first item on ebay and between ebay and paypal my brains overloading! i recieved an instant payment into my paypal so im guessing an automatic invoice was sent by paypal, its now telling me to print a postage label, do i have to do this, cant i just message the buyer on ebay and thank then for the payment and then go to the post office tomorrow and send it by special delivery like i was going to, or do i have to go through the postage label cr@p on paypal?
thanks in advance!

when the auction finishes they will get the otpion to pay you straight away which most people will do unless they want confirmation of postage or stuff first.
i take it your email said you had notification of the payment and usually it will also have the address so you can just take it to the post office and do it normally. I havnt done the postage label thing before, i think its just to save time for people that are doing it a lot

awesome, thanks very much Wez!

In my experience no one ever uses the postage label. Just do what's best for you. I always send an email thanking them for the order and then one to say it's in the post, and I always use special delivery. Apart from those rules everything else is what is the most convenient for me.

no probs, ive just thanked them so i'll just take it to the post office tomorrow

I've heard that "PayPal postage" is quite competitively priced, but I've never bothered to use it - it feels like they're taking more of your money off you as soon as you've been paid!
Recently I've been buying printed postage labels from Royal Mail's website - it works very well (surprisingly). But you need access to an accurate weighing scale to make sure you're paying the right amount.

what do i do about feedback? do i wait for them to accept the item, or just do it once they've paid?
-
Up to you. I usually wait for the buyer to leave feedback, so I know they're happy. But if they take more than a week (or so) I just leave feedback anyway.

cool, thanks

nice to see I'm not the only noobie on e-bay...
good luck! i might start selling soon, i have a few boss pedals I want rid of, and they shouldn't be too hard to post (famous last words...)...

I always leave feedback on receipt of payment - call me old fashioned but I don't really believe in not giving good feedback unless I have received some first. What feels right for you is probably the best route!

You can thank them for buying, but really you should wait for their response once they receive the item in question. Just so it's all OKee dokie.
