hey guys, i'm most likely going to buy a Nailbomb soon to fit in my Ibanez SZ320. I would like to have a cover on it too as it would really set the look off. I know you guys could burn the chrome a little to give it a blue chrome effect? could you guys still do this? and can you please post pics of this effects.
thanks
-
Hi steve,
yes we can still do this, Ive only done the one before, but it wouldn't be a problem doing it again. I can do one tonight and post a pic if you like?
-
If it's not too much trouble, then yes please Steve :D
-
Here you go steve, its the only chrome cover I had lying around the house (it must have escaped being nailbombed!)
I was surprised with how it came out! Its Awesome!!! PDT_045

holy ... shite!
that.. wow
so .. coool
can you do red ones like that?
-
unfortunatly not, thats the colour that it turns when heated.
-
That cover = very yes!!!
-

hmm.. you arent able to controll the red parts at all?
how do you wager it'd look on an oxblood guitar?
-
that cover looks amazing!

I may be able to, I'll have another go tomorrow night.
Should look cool!
-
ok, when i order my nailbomb, i'm deffinatly asking to have that done!
what would you call that anyway. burnt chrome cover?
-
i think if Hendrix played humbuckers, they might look a little like that! it's very cool....but maybe only for certain types of music - i cant imagine coldplay rocking out with burnt chrome pu's!
-
Ibanez burnt blue JEM.....that guitar needs these covers!
-

i'll have to see how it would look in an oxblood guitar and i might consider ordering that over a fully black nailbomb..
but it looks so damn cool!!!!
if it had a bit more red... or maybe THAT would look so frickin awesome on my fusion.. anyway... bah
i now want that cover
it's got a hypnotising effect

WOW!!! Does that cover look the same with and without illumination, or does it change its colour? Awsome.... really awsome... PDT_024
-
the colours are brightest in natural light, the depth of each colour also changes when you look at it from different angles.
-
wow, is it possible to send you back an uncovered pickup, and have it burnt chrome covered?? 8)
-
I dont see why not... you'll have to contact Tim for a price.
-
can you do covered singles like this??
-
:D Have to say that burnt chrome cover looks great !!!
:D 8)
-
can you do covered singles like this??
The covers have to glow red to discolour and you cant get metal covers for single coils unfortunatly.
-
aww man thats exactly what i want for my dime *puts on imaginary shopping list*
-
That looks awesome. It came out so much better than the first one you did.
Can the burnt chrome be combined with nailbombing? For example a burnt chrome cover with a Nailbomb splatter.
-
Now that looks cool!!! 8)
I don't normally like covered PU's apart from EMG's but that looks incredible!!
-
That has to be the best pup cover look i have ever seen.
Its like lava emerging from water. Fire and Ice....lol
I love it!!!!!
-
$% $% $%, I $%ING LOVED THIS BLUE CHROME
i would love one as much blue as possible without the red parts.. but it´s cool too.
i guess my delay to order my first set of BK Pickups will be VERY good for me
ahahahahahaha

Same way i feel. I am glad I am taking my time...you learn something new everyday from this message board. it is great....
-
YES. exactly. i agree shag!
-
who knows what we'll see tomorrow :D
-
It'll be hard to make any cover that's cooler than this one. 8)
-
How about these two?
-
DON'T TORTURE US!!!
I...
need...
a...
Nailbomb...
-
They look so nice.
This is probably a stupid question but...
Can this finish only be done on nailbombs?
-
can you get it to have more of the reddish colour in, or is it just random and down to how they burn?
-
You can have any finish on any pickup!
I'll have a go at getting more red in, I think I know how I can do it.
-
BLARGWHAAAAAAA!!"!"?WEJOPj?f=ufi"#k?pE
SYSTEM OVERLOAD!!!!!
BEEP BEEP BEEP
steve... laz will pick up a nailbom from you guys once he's that far.. i want it in that cover (and black bobbins underneath)
the more i'm looking at it, the more i think it could be used as fancy jewelery
-
HEY PEOPLE, I'VE MADE ONE MYSELF!!! :D It's not as lively and colorful like Steve's, but it has different shades of blue and yellow. It has a camo appearance, too, it's full of blue fingerprints! I forgot to clean the cover before heating! I'll make a photo when my camera comes back from the tech.
-
hehe, cool
-
That is an awesome cover dude - very metal (and perhaps Jazz as well :D )
-
I've already asked to get this cover on my Cold Sweat.
Steve, do you know if the chrome affects the tone of the pickup used?
-
Right now I'm really annoyed that my Edwards has Nickel hardware, as I want a set of BKs for it, my LP has Chrome but it already has fairly good PU's, aaargh, need to buy either more guitars or more PUs, or both!?
They do look seriously cool though.
-
It's driving me nuts! Damn it looks so good.
-
WOW!!!!
The one on the right looks like a fire storm hurricane that would be on the radar of the weather channel.
The one on the left looks like a great pup for a funky psychedelic band. LETS GO PINK FLOYD.......lol
-
Looks like I'm gonna inherit one of those covers! Great job, Steve!!

-
Wouldn't those look great in a psychedelic painted Hendrix style Flying V?
Get a tie-die shirt to match! 8)
-

Amen to that, psychedelic bucker covers rock. 8)
-

To be honest, I cant imagine coldplay rocking out atall! Miserable old gits!
-
Wow... that's all I can say.
BEST pickup I have EVER seen.
Please, keep pushing them boundaries.
Green flame, perhaps? Graphic engraving on cover? All these new ideas no one has yet harnessed!

Before they became so drab thay were a rock act.....just a bad one
-
:o those covers are amazing
you guys really need to trademark them before dimarzio tries to rip off your idea and trademark it themselves :?

A pic of these covers was also posted over on the Seymour Duncan Forum, and someone that didn't read the 1st thread (the 1 saying that these were a BK thing) suggested that Seymour Duncan should copyright them before Dimarzio did! 8)
-
Hmm^
-
Seymour Duncan and/or Dimarzio better not try and steal the idea, wouldn't put it past them though, they seem like the kind of people that would do that.
-
heh ..
nevermind those gits
all i'd like to see now is a red flame one and green drip one (like its been dipped in poison and it sticked :D )
nice sig sekhmet
-
...nice av bee
-
Dimarzio and SD wouldn't be able to produce them any way, they can only be done by hand and are quite time consuming to produce, just like our Nailbomb/warpig covers.
-
Ditto, plus you guys know where you saw them first :D

BAMM! you know that hurt Mr Duncan like a brick to the groin.
nice sig sekhmet
hehe cheers, i feel quite strongly about it.
But yeah can't wait to get a set of these covers, any idea how much it would cost?
-
we would probably charge the same as we do for the nailbomb covers
-
would look funky on a tie die guitar :P
-

I was surprised with how it came out! Its Awesome!!! PDT_045

I coated it with Isopropyl Alcohol and then heated it over a blow torch until the whole cover was glowing red. I then quickly cooled it down in water.[/quote]

hey lol  !
Do you think an Ibanez RGA321F with the neck a nailbomb and the bridge a war pig would work out alrite?? :?:
-
Oh yes - the Nailbombs sound great in any Ibanez, but you'll get some extra thickness from the mahogany to fatten out the sound while retaining clarity in the neck. The Warpig is a great choice for metal in the bridge - but the Nailbomb bridge is a bit more versatile - what's your style?

Thnx man!
I'm into all the heavy stuff and since i already have 3 other guitars I'd only be using this for the heavier stuff aniway so i'm not looking for somthing too versatile... as i have the Strat and the LP for that
So you think the Ibanez would be good?
