Trying to install a push pull, but I can't get the old tone pot out of my Les paul. I took off the knob, took off the nut and washer on that side and nothing. I assume there is a nut on the inside of the cavity but..how does one reach it without ripping the pot to pieces?

I'll assume that the controls are all attached to a metal plate - typical for a Gibson.
You will need to undo all of the pots to get the plate out and then undo the nut on the reverse of the metal plate.
Another thing to be careful of is the earth wire that is soldered to the back of one of the volume pots.
Another potential pitfall is that the thread of the push pull pot may not be long enough to get through the front of the guitar

thanks, yeah I did what you said shortly after posting this thread. and of course, the pot was too short though I was told that specific pot WOULD be long enough for an LP. oh well, ill just have to order one from some place else and try it again later.
