It's the first round of World Superbikes this Saturday in Qatar. Two weeks later it's the first round of MotoGP, also in Qatar.
Interestingly, the MotoGP race will be at night on a floodlit track.

Cheers Monkey - realised that myself today and need to get the SKY+ programmed.
Bayliss should win it, but I'd like to see Haga give him a run for his money ;)

I've not been following the pre season testing, but Bayliss on the 1098 Ducati is going to be pretty difficult to beat.
I'll be happy as long as Biaggi doesn't win.
Night race should be cool. Would be interested to see their electricity bill that month.....

I can't get on with Superbikes, but MotoGP & my personal favourite BSB are starting, I'm really looking forwards to see how Leon Haslam does this year

Any bike racing gets me on the edge of my seat. It will be interesting to compare the lap times of a Superbike and a MotoGP bike from the front runners of each and the back markers.
I used to race Enduros in the early 90's meself and I used to live for it. Had some wicked crashes too! I used to practise around Elsworth Motocross Track in Cambridgeshire. The pain, the horror! PDT_007 The leg ache would last for 3-4 days and I had to work on a bike in the week too in London. :roll:

i like Biaggi. i like Bayliss too, but after all he's done i'd like to see Biaggi win a top title. he was gonna be the big one after Mick Doohan, then Rossi came along and was very much the fly in his (and everyone else's) ointment!
anyway, Corser's on pole, Biaggi's third and Bayliss is down in eighth, not that that ever stopped him before! if Biaggi can get his first few laps speed sorted he should do well.
i notice noone's even mentioned James Toseland! anyone think he'll do well in Motogp?

A good couple of races, although disappointed that Haga didn't do too well.
Never would have expected Nieto to have taken the second race.
The reason I don't want to see Biaggi winning is because he spent his MotoGP career blaming everything and everyone (bar himself) for his lack of performance. He got a ride with Repsol Honda in 2005, with arguably one of the best bikes in the paddock and he was cr@p - who's fault was that? Not his, apparently - but he shot himself in the foot by criticising Honda as nobody would give him a ride in 2006.
I'm pretty excited to see Toseland riding in MotoGP, his performance in pre season testing leads me to believe that he'll be a lot more competitive than British riders in recent years. Hopefully he'll do well enough to get a factory ride next year.
Also worth keeping an eye on Bradley Smith in the 125s, he's switched from Honda to Aprilia this year and has been very quick in testing (fastest at two Jerez tests, second fastest at Valencia). I think he'll be winning races this season.

Yep, I agree with you Monkey. Bradders is quick and I think he'll go very well. Tose is very, very committed and will get the best out of the equipment he has.
I've got Dovizioso in my fantasy team - I think he may be a dark horse for some good results....

Did Barros retire in the end? I watched him at Donnington in 1990. It seemes like he was there for ever.
