At the end of Conan O'Brien there was a band and one member had an interesting looking guitar.  It looked like a cross between a les paul junior(top half) and a firebird(bottom half).  I'm pretty sure it was a gibson with the open book headstock.  I just may be gassing for it!  What is it???

 Gibson RD.

Looks very weird in a I want it sort of way.  :P
-
Yeah, it had a load of weird active electronics, and there were bass versions too - as used by Krist Novoselic (I think).

I've always quite liked the body shape, I wouldn't mind owning one (minus the actives).  I know Dave Grohl has at least one.
-
				That looks really nice.

 Aw cr@p ... now I want one too ....  :D
-
I certainly wouldn't call it aesthetically pleasing :?: Uggers for sure. The firebird's ugly hunchback sister

-
See, I've always found Firebirds very clumsy looking, but this looks far better balanced - much nicer to the eye.

 Well mine anyway
-
WTF are you talking about indy?! :) :)

Shes quite charming I think, not beautiful in the conventional sense, but strikingly gorgeous anyway.

And would no doubt sort out the issue of the firebird sitting so far forward when playing sitting down

-
I wonder if it's a true reissue with the appalling tuning that dogged the original RD's.

-
its not a proper reissue without the moog designed (IIRC) circuitry of the originals.   Thats the bit a lot of people ripped out.. i havnt had chance to play one of the originals but have always been intrigued by  it - you would expect interesting things from a Moog circuit :?

its the sort of bass that needs to be low slung to look good!!!  The shapes a bit goofy but i like it

very much so.. was made from the tree, the ugly sticks are made of
-
That's so ugly it could make an onion cry.

I have a reverse firebird and it's sooooooooo much nicer than that biffer
-
				I quite like it.

-
If I would get one it would be the blonde:

Could have a lot of fun with her!

It's not the worst Gibson Shape, though...

The Corvus takes that particular prize by a country mile.
-
Ugly as sin. But then again, some people like telecasters.

-
Yeah... These are some ugly guitars...

 Ouch! My eyes are burning.
-
If only it were pocket-sized, one could open beer with it.

 Guilty as charged.

And I've always fancied owning a Corvus - but only if I could get one dirt cheap.  They go for surprisingly high prices on eBay.
