Not as in location (but you can add that I suppose, people do post from work I guess)
But as in life. I'm interested to know what people are up to outside the awesome-ness of this forum. Not to sound weird at all.. PDT_006
I am currently in my last year of secondary school (thus making me eighteen) and hope to carry onto university @ either Kingston or Glasgow. Hard times to be honest, but everyone has there fair share I guess.
So, anyone else?

GCSE's in 9 weeks =O.
Still , a career in music is on the cards :D. Not sure about afterwards, but maybe go into session guitar stuff would be cool.

At university at Dartington College Of Arts, word to the wise, if you're pretty sure of who you are as a musician, and are looking to get more onto a career path from being at uni, don't come here. I'm leaving in the summer and starting a 2 year foundation (doing the 3rd year makes it a degree) in Professional Musicianship at BIMM (the one they're opening in Bristol), which means lots of paperwork and stupid financing balls, especially considering my SLD, it's funny how they make you do more paperwork if you're Dyslexic.
Good luck in your GCSE's/A levels/whatever qualification you're doing guys.
-
In bed... trying to sleep, and failing
A level year @ school. probably going for an apprenticeship in electrics, or electronics (more interesting than a fully academic job or plain ol' manual labour) after A levels, mighty tempted to leave now though... just really can't be $%ed
-
The lyrics of Time come to mind... "And then one day you find 10 years have passed behind, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun." What happened to high school? College? Time goes by fast, faster than it seems! I'm still working on my IT degree, though I've been going to school long enough to be a doctor now  I'm working on getting a house of my own, so that I can turn the volume up to 11 and rock out without anyone getting mad!
-

.
it comes down to being good special needs or bad special needs. As someone in that business we all like the people with difficulties that do well, doesnt mean we make it easy for you... personally i have always been devils advocate for the others... seriously, this year i have intelligent kids who will fail completely acedemically but are travelling to dancing and music shows every weekend.. its clear they will get nothing out of school and its clear we have failed them. but then they are all bad lads and we have only failed them because they couldnt focus in lessons :?
i was basically labeled as dyspaxic at school but partly due to my parentts in denial and partly due to the education system it was ignored and hoped it would disapear.
its still there,,, but it gets worked around... a dyspraxic guitar builder is not a promising concept but its always been something i lived with and alwas will be
-
I was labelled as hyperactive at school. I couldn't concentrate on anything that I found boring. Like maths! Even though I forced myself to learn Trig' at college, studying Engineering. So what you do is turn it into an advantage! I'm convinced having a brain that thinks at a 1000 miles an hour is what kept me alive as a dispatch rider for 10 years. I'm now 42. I sleep around 4-5 hours a night. Drive trucks for a living and have a mortgage on a nice place, with more guitars than I need and a massive black Koch.
-
I did well at school but under acheived at collage / Uni.
Still I've been working as a software developer for 2 years now so who cares? I'm 35 and I have a wife (Prozacbear) who gets worse GAS than me, a mortgage on a nice flat, and some very nice guitar gear that I REALLY shouldn't have bought.
-

Me too. I'm questioning whether I want to go to Uni, 3/4 years of more essay writing? I dunno.
Doubt I'll even get the grades so it's hardly a decision
-
After failing my A-Levels in Design and Technology and Maths miserably I went to college and did a BTECH National Diploma in Popular Music, which covered most aspects: recording (both as an an engineer and 'being' recorded), performance, composition, Music Technology, some theory etc.
Did really well at that and managed to get a part time/part voluntary job at a studio as an engineer and also teaching younger kids at 'RockSchool' Workshops while also working a normal job in a warehouse.
I absolutely hated the warehouse work so saved my wages for 2 years and decided to try the voluntary thing for as long as I could, just too see and hope that a job would come of it. I really enjoyed doing engineering and teaching, but as it was voluntary (to get the experience and to get my foot in the door so to speak) I went through my life savings in a year while just trying to survive. So basically I had to give it up and get a proper job in an office.
The office job is ok, it keeps my car running and also keeps me in guitars and other GAS related items, but it's not what I want to do with my life.
I'm looking at getting a quality covers/tribute act together to hopefully work it to a point where I can gig enough to cut the office work down to part time and then atleast I'm doing something I want to do some of the time :)
-
Late 20s and living in London doing electronics for the man.... Its quite good fun at times, and theres the occasional gig here and there to keep me happy.
-
So I'm 21 and in my final year of a Chemistry with Teaching degree, so in July I'll be a fully qualified chemist and a teacher. Unemployed (for now) and living with my girlfriend.
Apart from being given a court order to be evicted in a month or so, all is well.
-
I'm 19, about 3/4 the way through of my first year of uni allready. Studying Media Production BSc at DMU, which is allright. I've got an essay due in 3 weeks though and I dont really know how to even start it (I'm cr@p at writing), my tutor hasnt exactly been useful either :? Not really sure where this is gonna take me, I wouldnt mind doing video post-production stuff (I'm also cr@p at directing and having good ideas for video), or something to do with radio if next years radio module turns out to be any good. I like photography but nowhere near good enough to make any money off it.
Still trying to find a good original band to play in, no luck so far :( I would like a career in music but I dont have the patience or discipline to learn theory or playing fast, so I'd be a pretty useless session musician, I doubt anyone would hire me

An event band would be a good idea Brow as they actually earn a shed load of cash. You need to learn 1000's of tunes that you hate but a lot that you like too. I've thought about it but can't find anyone dedicated enough, all i get is what i call pub talk and no action cos they are too hungover or coming down from drugs to do anything on a Sunday!
-
I had an ex girlfriend who went to Uni and studied Art. Another studied Archeology. Both ended up doing regular jobs and not using their degrees. Why? Is it that students just keep lecturers in employment?
I would always have a contingency plan if your looking to earn money from something you love. I tried the photography route and now the world and his wife are great photographers. Just look at some of the stuff on Flickr.com Look at all the bands that don't make it too. I don't want to sound negative and the harbinger of doom but you also have to be realistic and learn something that is essential.
-

you also have to be realistic and learn something that is essential.
The idea that modern governments have installed in us... you can be whatever you want.
Which also keeps a lot of chavs in council houses because they all want to be pro footballers.
well thats my guess anyway

Good point :) Someone should also tell them they need to get up early and train and stay of the spliffs.

The purpose of uni is to come and get pissed a lot and generally have fun  Oh and you get a degree. I just hope mines going to be useful and wasnt a waste of money.
-
36, married (3 years) with a 1 year old son. I have a good job with a good company that has employed me for the past 15 years.
FWIW, I've been very lucky in life. Left school with middling-average grades (7 GCSEs, 2 A-Levels), managed to get to Uni (a fourth-tier dump unworthy of the name ) but hated it & dropped out after 1½ terms.
Got myself some rented digs, had a few mundane jobs, then managed to get my foot in the door of my current employer through a temping agency & kinda worked my way up the food chain from there. Had a few very hard years where I saveed almost every penny I earned & had hardly any nice things, but it paid off in the end - was able to buy my home for a steal when the property market was at its lowest ebb. I wouldn't class myself as rich, but I live comfortably, have hardly any debt & a smaller mortgage than most people my age...
-
I plan to do Business Management at Uni - so in the hypothetical future, I'd open my own retail shop. I don't see why you should study a course and then work in a corner shop. It's just following the other fishies but somehow you got "caught", if you can say, and the other kept moving without you.
I don't think I'll get into Uni though.. failing grades haunt me. :(
EDIT: A lot of you want to be in bands for covers and original stuff, why's that? Stupid question as you all play guitar and what not, but what makes you so determined that you want to get to that stage?
I don't see myself in a band because I generally lack the skill, lol..
-
I want to be in an original band because I hate playing by myself in my room all the time :P Also, programming drums is so dull, would rather be writing original stuff with a full band so I dont have to program everything  I was in a cover band which was fun for a bit but so boring once the novelty wore off, the last few gigs I did I wasnt even enjoying myself.
Someone in my flat was doing business management but decided to drop out and join the police :?

lol.. that's not random at all.

I would've done well at school, shame i wasnt interested.
So now i'm 22, nearly 23. Was a music photographer for a short while and im starting to get back into it, but what Johnny Mac has said is very true, it's too easy to be good at this game. But the same thing count's for a lot of other industry's including music, where people would be happy enough to do it for free, thus people stop paying photographers and start expecting you to do it for free!
I've been told it takes 10 years to get anywhere in this industry, and i damned well belive it now. Seriously thinking about doing weddings instead...
I do feel though that i should go to uni, i've spent the last 3 years thinking of a degree which would actually be useful in the real world and that i'd actually be interested in.
So yeah, 22, unemployed and no idea what i want to do. fun ;)

Have you seen what happened to all the pic agencys? Most got bought out by Getty Images and they pay their smudgers peanuts now. The corporate machine, it's just bloody horrible really. I've just had a dispute over money that was owed to me from a regular event that I used to cover. I could feel the guys voice suggesting that I should be grateful that I'm chosen to do it and not invoice him for the agreed amount. So I'm not even going to bother any more, unless I get it up front or at least 50% of it. I even got an email from some bird who wanted pics on a DVD from a previous event. Obviously the new snapper. Bleeding cheek! I've done a few weddings and been paid for them but those brides mums are hormonal maniacs on their little girls big day and would rather just do an extra shift at work than put up with all that poxy clucking to be honest!

:D Not wishing to piss on anybodys parade here but: BROW, Johnny Mac and everyone else for that matter. Writing as a cover band mergant i`m shure 38th will back me up here. The tribute band stuff has been very over done and theres nowhere near the kind of money in it there used to be. You need to be very very convincing indeed and thats very difficult. You`ll also need some very dedicated fellow band members as well and believe me there very difficult to find. As for the material if i had a pound for every guitar player that thinks playing Bryan Adams Summer of 69 or G`n`R Sweet Child Of Mine etc i`d be a rich man. The problem is you cant go to obscure noone will get it and you cant go to cheesy as its been done to death. The list of numbers that falls into this catogary is quite large. Theres is allways room for a good covers band/duos,trios etc but be certain you can get an audience.
:D 8)

17, nearly 18 (can't wait!) Failed miserably (like Brow) in my AS levels because i didn't work hard enough, but now i'm in College doing a BTEC National Diploma in Popular Music (again like Brow lol!) and it's going much better. Hopefully after this course i will have developed in my playing (or at least in some musical area) enough to make a living in music, might go to Uni but i very much doubt it haha.
-
It seems to be that everyone would go to school, go to Uni, get a job and presto- a simple life faster than instant coffee.
But I don't know (still) if Uni is for me, let alone getting grades but I guess I need some points on both sides.
Why Uni?
Why not Uni? What's over the wall from education?
Plus I couldn't get to where I want to be without it, or is that a total farce?
-
My turn.
Let's see ... I'm 43, married, 2 daughters, 2 cars, 2 cats .... um too many 2's there :D
I left school at 18, joined the forces, left at 27 and went elsewhere to do a job that's been mentioned already in this thread.
I've played guitar since I was 11 and I've been playing live since 1995, without a break. I'm currently in a covers band doing weddings, parties etc but that will come to an end at the end of June and I'm taking a rest :D
As I get older I find myself playing more and more Blues. I figure at the present rate, in 2 years, I'll be the size of a house and playing a guitar called .. 'Lucille'.
I currently have 7 guitars (5 elec and 2 acoustic) which i really need to thin out a bit .... unless I see any more I like first

Good point jt! I like watching bands with a quirky slant to them if I'm out and about.

Sounds like a cool life to me! A family and been playing live for 13 years. Nice one!!

17 years old, completed my GCSEs pretty well, started first A level year and hated it- dropped out.
Now preparing to go to college in september to do A levels in Maths, Physics, English, Music Tech, in the hope of getting a place on the Surrey Tonmeister course.
Been playing guitar for about 5/6 years. A couple of those in a band playing live and getting paid a little bit here and there.
That's it!

Where am I? Returning to this forum after a layoff of ~6-7 months. Lost my job, got screwed out of over $250,000 by my former employer, had to go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy, lost my car (a SMOKIN' black Audi S4 Cabriolet --- ARGH!), lost my faithful canine companion of 12 1/2 years (via natural causes, not the bankruptcy), lost my house on the beach in North Carolina, lost all of my guitars --- INCLUDING my 99 Les Paul Standard with raw nickel Crawlers. (Some fellow in Iceland got a GREAT deal on a Les Paul, so I'm happy for him; however, anyone who doesn't think that loss of that LP hurt me as bad as the canine loss needs to think again.) I'm currently putting together a Strat copy from a Warmoth body and a few random parts I have laying around because that's all I can afford. However, things are on the upswing, as I have a new job (albeit in Mississippi) and my creditors are S-L-O-W-L-Y being paid off. Glad to see that others here are doing well. Thanks for letting me vent, and glad to be back! :D
-
I think you left before I joined but welcome back anyway :D
Sorry to hear about your problems and hopefully things continue to improve for you.

Its all right JM - I don't do crime - it doesn't pay....
-
I'm 18 and still shitee at guitar. I've done my bloody A-Levels which were about as much fun as anal rape.
I'm now at Uni in Brum doing sound engineering and production which is a lot more fun, although there's a suprising amount of actual work involved.
Currently I'm eating Raspberry Country Crisp (the breakfast of the gods), and watching some weird-ass 'magibon' video. Take life a minute at a time :D

Cherie Blair does alright out of it!

IT'S TOO NICE!
-
I had smoked Haddock, a poached egg and tinned tomatoes in Limes Cafe.
-
One burnt samosa, one decently reheated samosa, cold from last night.
Listening to whatever iTunes throws up (strange world by Iron Maiden as I type, now Last Nite by the strokes.)
I have my GCSEs soon, predicted the moon, but in reality haven't bothered with any coursework so an even smattering of As and Bs I expect. fail at music
-

They're making raspberry again?! :o
I daren't buy it though, I can get through a box in a day. I think Country Crisp was the start of me getting fat. That and Kelloggs Hot Krumbly (I think they stopped making it because it gave you your whole day's intake of calories and fat - before leaving the house in the morning  ).

Kelloggs Hot Krumbly
I don't know what that is... but even just the NAME is making me hungry...
Smoked haddock sounds nice too.
I'm off to get some lunch now.

I'm currently eating bangers and mash which is probably the greatest meal ever invented.

Hello
I'm 32 :o , and I come from sunny Dagenham (a cr@p hole part of London/ Essex). Now I live in Southampton with my husband Rich (Ailean). I have degrees in Psychology and Applied Biomedical Science, and I work as a biomedical scientist for the National Blood Service.
I'm waiting to be made redundant in about a years time  , which is why I'm sitting in work writing this rather than doing my job, which I don’t give a shite about anymore :orcass: .
I've been learning to play guitar for about 10 months and I'm in the middle of learning to play Nothing Else Matters by Metalica. I am looking forward to getting my nice new guitar that Wez is making for me.
Anyway that's enough about me I think
-
I'm 28 and graduated from uni in 2003 (I think) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I now work for a major company (can't really say who, but they do sponser the FA cup :D ) running some of their major construction projects.
I got married about 8 months ago and live on the egde of a little village with my wife and cat (Dweezil). Although at the minute my house is being rewired so we're living in the next door neighbours.
I've been playing the guitar on and off for some time and it appears to be one of those things that I just suck at. Although I used to look nice and bumpy like a sock full of conkers, I have been enjoying the good life a bit too much since the wedding and now I'm in serious danger of becoming a bit of a fattie.
Oh, and my new car comes a week today so I'm happy
-
Aged 26, graduated from uni two and a half years ago and working in a job that I thoroughly hate and leaves me with very, very little money to live off. In a band, hoping to gig more this year as I would drop everything work-related for a career in music.

I'm 16 and doing my As year at school.
Being born in May and living 20 minutes walk from town (and a pretty boring one at that) I'm essentially isolated from things for much of the time until I can apply for my provisional and learn to drive.
Having people in my tutor group with full licences and virtually everybody now talking about driving lessons makes me feel somewhat left behind.
All I have to occupy myself at the weekend is telly really but I get reasonable amounts of exercise with my skittle picking at the pub across my road and I'm trying to get back into a gym habit (next planned is Friday).
I need to get out of here.
-

I need to get out of here.
I live 20 minutes walk away from the nearest public bus stop (school bus is right outside though) the bus occasionally comes 2 hours late despite it being an hourly service, then have to endure a 40 minute route around the villages to get to town. and a return ticket costs me about a fiver...
You are soo bloody lucky :P
I'm May 16th, so I know how you feel, got really excited when I turned 17, and had a load of lessons for a few weeks ... parents refused to book me a test (needs a credit card). got nowhere.
Parents also said that they would buy me a car (didn't happen) I think the deal was they would halve whatever I bought, and buy a car of that value. (good desktop computer from 18 months ago, guitar, half stack, some pedals etc)
Heh, I seem annoyed
-
I am doing GCSE's and next year I`ll be doing a University degree alongside my A levels. Playing guitar 4 years (I think) and I am looking forward to my WezV custom build (or 2 ) soon.

Lives here seem somewhat depressing. Guess I'm not alone then.

Lives here seem somewhat depressing. Guess I'm not alone then.
I think we're all experiancing "Life." I can find points in my life to post here to make it sound horrible: I'm 24, living with parents, been balding since I was like 18, weigh over 250 lbs, single--never really had a girl, no money saved up, haven't finished college yet after 6 yrs, etc...
Also, I could write other things and make my life sound great: I've got a 05 Mazdaspeed Miata convertiable (I LOVE that car), I'm learning and progressing nicely (I feel) at the guitar, My family are all fantastic, we get along very well, I'm now an uncle of a couple weeks--the little guy is adorable, I've been fortunate enough to be able to go to college, and should finish soon, I've' got a good job that I'm happy to do, and they pay me well, I'll hopefully be able to get a house of my own in a year or two, and I guess I'm pretty happy in general.
(Well, I gues it doesn't make it sound GREAT, but not bad anyways..)
So, all of you who appear down on your luck right now, look up and you'll see the bright side of things! There's always something good going on.

Blimey, you lot make me feel old. OK so I am 49 with 2 sons (aged 25 & 19) and I am shacked up with Mrs 38th.I was once married but divorced 17 years ago.I have 2 cats ( Milly & Loretta) and am a Manager in a large Insurance co (though maybe for not much longer as redundancy looms due to a takeover) but I am by definition a musician/songwriter. Mrs 38th owns a health food shop and I help her with that business a fair amount. I currently play in two bands- a covers band (lead vocals/guitar) and a blues band(lead vocals/bass) .I have loads of mates in the business(some well known, others not so well known) and I have, in my time, been a semi professional musician and have have a lot of experience doing all kinds of stuff-including theatre work as a muso. I have recently started writing stuff again and will record it all in due course and stick it on the 'net. Also I have had a great idea for a book and I am currently looking at putting that together but a lot of research to do. cr@p at DIY though-much to Mrs 38ths frustration. As I have said elsewhere, I currently have limited internet access until I can fix up my PC at home( a bit busy right now) after having apparently(according to BT) a lightning strike that has taken out my phone line-hence the lack of me of late.

I may as well share too, eh?
I'm 33, married to Mrs TF, and we live in Manchester with our 5 cats (Treacle, Mushroom, Honey, Willow and Anya). We have no kids, and no plans to, as neither of us have the desire to have them. Mrs TF is a primary school teacher and sees enough kids as it is!
I work as a Computer Systems Manager for a large international company, which is as boring as it sounds. That's why I post on here all the time
Out of work I'm a motorbike fan and I watch MotoGP, World Superbikes and British Superbikes. Me and Mrs TF both have bikes (me a Ducati 749S, Mrs TF an Aprilia RS250) which are our weekend playthings. We go to several of the UK circuits for bike race meetings, and this year Mrs TF wants to go and watch the truck racing at Donington :)
Musically, I've been playing guitar since I was about 8 years old so that's 25 years. I'm probably more interested in the way sounds are made as much as the music itself, which is why I'm such a gear head. Similarly with the bikes, where I'm really into the technical info. This is why I have a titanium wedding ring, as it's a commonly used metal in the racing world used to save weight. It's what bikers would call "trick" ;)
I play in an AC/DC cover band called YC/DC? and we're based in South Manchester. Our singer plays in several bands, so we don't gig as much as we'd like to because we're limited by his availability. However, I really enjoy the small number of gigs we do as each one is great fun - it's never a chore.
I'd love to own my own guitar/amp shop one day as I have a database for a brain and it's full of info from reading guitar magazines over the years. I'm sure I could run a great shop and help a few people find the right gear for them.
As for the immediate future, I think I need to find/form a second band playing classic rock covers so I can gig more often :)

Mrs TF an Aprilia RS250
I like Mrs TF. I used to have the 125 which I blew up a few times. Always wanted a 250.
-
She's had both but preferred the 125. I prefer the 250 8)

:D Christ is it my turn now !
Well Ok here go`s i`m 43. Like 38th i play in a cover band [ duo] all tho i`m not gigging at the moment. I work for a soft drinks manufacturer that make several famous brands under licence. I run machines etc. I gig at least once a week if not more, unfortunately i have to play a huge amount of middle age rubbish ! mainly 60`s based pop tunes. Its great making sure there awake by waking in a quick arpeggio sweep out of the blue !
Then last year it all went pear shaped. I went into hospital and due to a lot of indecisiveness they failed to operate in time and had to perform emergency operation at literally the last minute to remove what turned out to be cancer from my bowel. After another op i was in a coma for 5 weeks and then woke up to find i was paralysed from the neck down ! I had to learn to walk all over again and replay the guitar. I`m suffering some serious after effects at the moment which means i`m back home living with my parents here in Beds. Otherwise i live in N.E.London/Essex. I`m not married and have no children and i`m currently without a girlfriend at the moment.
I`ve decided to put together a Trio cover band when i recover properly that will play American style pop rock from around the 80`s. Think Huewy Lewis and the News, The Outfield, Rick Springfield etc. Lots of great catchy fun songs. I`m currently planing to record little instrumentals to post up on the net.

Yeah too right, i was going to go with some pic agency but it was rediculous, i've just had a year off photography 'cause i've been so pissed off with all the cr@p that comes with it it's taken me this long to calm down abotut it, lol.
These days band managers are TOLD to not pay us photographers, it's a right piss take! My camera alone (1D MK II) is worth more than the damned whole bands rig half the time. grr. And if you put in the 70-200 L IS 2.8 it definitely is more expencive!
Hah, it actually sounds like fun :D if i were to do wedding photography i'd aim for the bigger fees pretty quick, £1,000 plus... i don't see the point in doing it any cheaper.
Though lately i think i've lost my eye for photography for that kind of stuff, still able to get the band shots but i think i've been doing that for so long that it's all ic an do! sigh.

It's taken you that long huh?
I thought it was just a take on the original name? What don't I get :s

er.... 27 and living with my girlfriend and two cats, syd and nancy. I work in a school - sometimes as a Teaching assistant and sometimes as a VI form teacher for sociology and psychology.
then in most of my spare time and school holidays i work on guitars. started making them about 5-6 years ago but have been modding them since i got my first squire strat in 1994 and promptly took it apart with no clue how to put it together. I started building quite randomly because i found a book called 'how to make your own electric guitar' by Melvyn Hisc--k. That just happened to grab my eye in a music shop in Bolton about 10 years ago and i spent 4 years researching and doing more extensive mods before doing my first from scratch build.
here are the first 25 (not all good)
http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/?action=view¤t=bec09386.pbw
26 was 'The Veteran' which i documented here
27 is a fanned fret LP
28 will be done soon and is a white and black strat from warmoth parts
29 will be a white explorer with Kahler trem
30 has some really fancy details to it - its my vendetta shape
31 is a black sg with nickel P-90's and hardware
the rest are still in the planning stages
also like doing other guitar related projects and have built a champ amp kit, a few pedals, a lapsteel, restoring a banjolelee and working the quirks out of an ashbury bass
things are going pretty well really.. the day job is annoying me more and more and the plan is to phase that out in favour of the guitar stuff over the next few years
Also trying to renovate my house which is quite small but currently averaging a year per room
all this means i dont get to play guitar very often

remove what turned out to be cancer from my bowel.
Ouch Jt- my aunt died of bowel cancer a few years back, not nice. Glad you made it out okay!
And Beatle- does that mean we should technically refer to 'Mrs 38th' as "Miss 38th" if you're not married?
And Dave- DEFINITELY open a guitar shop! Go on, do it. Tomorrow! :)
-
I'd love to Sam, but I need to find a way to do it AND earn money!
-
:D Wezs loved the Explorer and the cross between the explorer and V in what looks like a flame blue finish !
:D 8)
-
I do like that white firebirdy thing, looks very nice
-
:and the cross between the explorer and V in what looks like a flame blue finish
that was my take on an ML, i drew the plans from emmory so it was never quite like an ML but i liked that... first lefty as well
-
I am about to go to uni in 2008, plus making an album, so you could say I'm beggining to get respected as I'm 22, people are gradually taking me more seriously lol
-
Yes Sam, Mrs 38th should be Miss 38th but perhaps we should say Ms 38th. Come to think of it, i rather like Miss as it makes her sound young and the poor old thing is getting on a bit...... ooow stop that dear I was joking...ooow (Mr 38th retires to lick wounds).
-
^ haha, half the fun is bullying them :)

Also trying to renovate my house which is quite small but currently averaging a year per room
Tell me about it, finally got mine almost finished and it's now having to be rewired (as I speak). There are chases all over the walls, most of the floor boards are up and yesterday the sparky put his foot through my bedroom ceiling.
Sparky's out on Friday, weekend off, new bathroom Monday and Tuesday, plasterer on Wednesday, cleaning plaster dust Thursday and Friday, next weekend we have to paint the bedroom, spare bedroom (minor works), front room and bathroom before the carpets get put in on Monday...... Then do the kitchen after that so I can put the units back on.
Essentially re-decorate 75% of the house over the course of a single weekend....... I am having to call in favours
Still, at least the garden looks nice (except for the shipping container on the drive and the remains of a bathroom in the front garden - throwing a bath out of a window, is much more fun that carrying it down stairs BTW)

Lets see:
Brief history: it all started with the big bang, then
No, seriously, I'm 25, have a physics degree (and therefore lots of A-levels and GCSEs and stuff) work as a technical and operations advisor for immobilisation of the nasty stuff that comes from nucyoular reactors (its well paid and not wholly uninteresting or pointless but by Thor am I bored with it. Well, the work is OK, but I hate with a passion the work culture here)
Writing music for a band and learning as much as I can about audio, acoustics, tracking, mixing, and what have you for the immediate purpose of recording a demo EP or album that sounds half decent and the dim and distant hope that I can put the skilz it to use in a financially beneficial fashion.
Currently looking into working on the side as a guitar tech. I know it already (doing my own guitars from day 1, getting on for 10 years I've failed and stumbled my way to being a pretty good tech for the simple everyday stuff (up to fret dress)) and people keep asking me to do it, so I may as well make a business of it.

I'll be quick. A very brief history of the last 4 years for me; 16 recovered from M.E/CFS after 4 years. Completed 3 gcses in sixth months, due to illness. Attempted sixth form, dropped out due to personal reasons, and here i am now, only my music to keep me sane, as usual
