I'm not sure if this has been done before but I thought it would be nice to get a thread going showcasing guitars that you think are great looking.
No real criteria, just that it's appearance pushes all the right buttons for you.
I'll kick it off with this wild flame LP...

I'll chime in with a couple later, but wooooooooah that's a cool LP!
-
Wow!!! Who owns this Les Paul?
I say: be aware if you see a fatty boy going bald walking nearby the house...
Kidding :D

EEK! Ratrod- what are the two Teles and two Gretschs?!
-
Those teles reminded me of this:

-
(http://www.harmony-central.com/ProductImages/Large/000001823.jpg)
Awesome!
-
the teles are James Trussart guitars
and you gotta love the manson mermaid!
-
Didn't realise the image would be so big, sorry all! lemme know if you guys want me to try and find a smaller one, heh.
-
SOOOOOOO UGLY!
Dear GOD that's HIDEOUS!
-
My black tele is pretty phoarsome. Dunno why, but the maple neck and all black and chrome body is very sexy in my eyes. Can't wait to one day add a black strat to the collection again. Only with a rosewood board this time.
Oh! And George Harrison's rosewood tele... One WILL be mine.
-
These are some of my favourites. I've got a real thing about PRS guitars at the moment, possibly because affording one is looking almost feasible!
The Taylor is just a the most fantastic piece of wood.

And of course Feline Lions. But you've all seen them already.
-
Indeed he does! Those Jeff Miller's impressed me aswell.
-
I'm holding out until I get my B2. The top alone is getting me rather hot under the collar...
Until then, this is rather tasty, though the jury is still out on the red inlays...

-
them last ones are great

The wood on the first Conklin is amazing. I want one of those, and I can't even play a 7 string!
-
If I'm not wrong, the name of this wood is Buckeye Burl...

Is that a Modern Eagle?
-
Yeah is it. I saw one of those in Andertons a few weeks ago. I think i may have actually begun drooling - it looks even better in the wood.
-
I've gotten my keyboard wet with drool =(
-
Yep, Modern Eagle in Charcoal. If I had £4500 to spend on a guitar (!!!!!) that's what I'd buy.
-
not usually a fan of "fancy" guitars, but this is HAWT.

Hmmm, I like the look of a nicely grained bit of plain maple, on the Gibson custom site the Slash sig looks great, especially the detail behind the stop bar (I think... trying to remember).
Not that keen on flamed maple, theres some which are so flamed it seems to much (it is definately possible :P )ie Gibson R0 - take a look at the site (right now I wish I had a vommitting emoticon)
-
most of the first page was vomitory (except that gorgeous LP), especially that BC Rich with all that garish abalone and fretboard inlay. but the second page, well, now y'all are startin to hit it. Conklin always make the most amazing instruments, just fantastic and beautiful, seemingly the highest craftsmanship i have seen.

I know it's terribly noobish, but this one did make me go "wow". and since Agile already has been mentioned, I thought what the heck:

^ ^ i don't know why but i got a massive adrenaline rush, and felt super-angry when i read that ^ ^
didn't know i had it in me.
What are you talking about!? it's a gorgeous guitar.
-
What are you talking about!? it's a gorgeous guitar.
no, it's a tele.
-
Very nice Indy!
I looked at the whole range of the Trussart guitars Ratrod posted, and I have to say I really like them as well.
"Steelcaster" with a hollow steel body and a sort of mesh-top- awesome.
-
one day you'll see the light. it's right at the end of that long, dark, narrow-minded tunnel of metal :P ;)
-
That Manson Mermaid (I'm not going to copy that enormous pic from page 1 again) is an amazing piece of work, but it's creepy. I don't think I'd want to touch it, and I'd sh!t myself if I bumped into it in a darkened room.

It's really not..
It's yellow.... And its just plain.

every guitar on here will be beautiful to some people and ugly to others. just like everything else in life, theres something for everyone
-
Very nice Indy!

Hell yeah those Trussart guitars look incredible - i wander if they sound good too though. I'd kill to try one out - does anyone know of any dealers?
-
one day you'll see the light. it's right at the end of that long, dark, narrow-minded tunnel of metal :P ;)
What makes you think I like metal guitars?
Oh, and you might see the light one day. It's at the end of that long, dark, tunnel of "look at me I'm awesome I play pentatonics and shake my finger a little bit so it almost looks like I can do vibrato" narrowminded arrogance.
On a serious note (meaning the above wasn't): I outgrew strats and teles when I was in my early teens. I see several good players that haven't and that's just fine and dandy with me. There's no hierachy of which type music is superior to the other, for whatever reason.
-
I was joking too mate :P
But yeah it's all just an issue of taste. I always find that I hate something one week, and then the next I'll be in love with it, and vice-versa.
and in regards to why I thought you'd be into 'metal' guitars - isn't everyone on this forum? :P That and the dead-looking hands with nail varnish on the in ur avatar.
-

There's a few dealers on the website.
If you copy and paste the names of the shops into google you'll get the dealers own websites (there's no link to them on the Trussart site for some weird reason).
About 3 or 4 UK ones I think. DAMN expensive though.
-
The "dead looking" is due to pic quality I think. It's Jason Becker.
mEthuuuUUlllz eh?
(ironically, I play more blues now than I ever did. I just can't stand when people think the reason I hate strats and teles is that "they're not metal enough". I'm glad you were joking though. People can be very stuck up about those things.)
btw, the guitar in your av is more metal than any guitar I own, or enjoyed playing.

THIS is a Tele and can go from Blues to AAAGGGHHH!

I've seen a few of these in person when the builder came to canada to do seminars on bass construction. They are unbelievably pretty, and sound increadibly good. Like, almost too good.
-
Ohhh! I like them. Almost garish but really nice.

ritter.... garish... never!!!

Must admit, apart from the Blonde Tele, nothing's really stirred my porridge here at all. Must be my innate dislike of Flametops etc. I can't see the point in paying extra when a plain top would sound pretty much the same.
I'm a bit of a utilitarian, though.
-
:o
That reminds me of some kind of Victorian porcelain or something... :?
-
I can't see the point in paying extra when a plain top would sound pretty much the same.
Me neither. But this thread isn't about how guitars sound, it's about how they look.

Meh flame tops do nothing for me either. Though I love the strat Wez built, strat body with a les paul bridge? Me wants.

I've just seen the new Ibanez Giger. Despite an innate distrust of all manner of locking ironmongery, and pointy bits, I'd have me one of them for sure.

Man, America is so crazy.

Thank you for sorting that out for me.... :o

does anyone else get that song "things that make you go Hmmm" in their head when they read the title of this thread?
oh, nice weapon Dave!
-
I don't care how tacky you all will think this is, but I love this one. I think it really raises the question "how much more 80s could it get?" and the answer is None. None more 80s.

That baby screams for a Diver.
... and for my hands.

OMG YES!
EVERY time I look at the thread - Those lyrics pass through my head!
How weird! :S:S:S

That pink Star guitar needs a Hello Kitty somewhere.

It makes me think of Vinnie Vincent, not that he ever played anything quite like it.
And apart from the colour, I really like it. If I was after an '80s locking-trem guitar (which I'm not) that Carvin would be on the list with the Hamer Steve Stevens.
-
In the Cacophony days, the V220 was Marty Friedman's main guitar. There's even rehearsal videos with Megadeth with him playing it.

Everyone should own at least one pink guitar in his lifetime.

Or like Mr. Gilbert here, several.

I would RAG that BlackMachine Tele, and the bird playing it
-
^The inlay ruins it in my opinion. But aside from that, I'm with you.
-
This is my second offering. A GMW Charvel bullseye replica, but fitted with a flatmount Floyd trem and a Miracle Man pickup. It Rawks!!
-
Meh flame tops do nothing for me either. Though I love the strat Wez built, strat body with a les paul bridge? Me wants.
Same here.
I think Dakines PRS Singlecut wins this thread though (the orange one thats got the proper LP control layout)
-
Nooo, the red one man!!! Who cares about control layout!!?!?!
-
Me :) I dont like the red colour much either. Indy I agree about the Black Machine tele (and the girl playing it), I still dont like that pointy headstock much though :\
-
(http://www.mijfenders.com/Gallery/ST80SPLWVBgallery/images/DSCF0002.JPG)
I'd love to get this pimped subtly by Feline (combination Dunlop 6000 then 6100 frets/ white with Gold pole Holy Diver bridge) 8)
-
while i'm not a huge fan of either strats or gold hardware, somehow that ^ is gorgeous!
-

That strats looks so nice, very similar to the Mary Kay strat that I liked so much (but was so expensive).
While I find the blackmachine and attached female reasonably interesting, I have to ask WTF is happinging to her friend, it looks like she has had a nasty accident and is part way through another one
-
^ once again I have to wipe coffee from my keyboard, Cheers Rob lol
-
I love white strats! Very nice Dave.

that was damn good.

Well... my girlfriend wants it even more than I do.
And now for something completely different:
Ibanez Artcore in all bubinga. Found it on ebay at $500... so what's the glitch? It looks stunning I must say. Good thing I'm not in the market for a new guitar, especially not a semihollow (satisfied with the one I have... for now)
-
(http://www.mijfenders.com/Gallery/ST80SPLWVBgallery/images/DSCF0002.JPG)
That the Kotzen sig?
Awesome Artcore btw Ilyti. As far as I know, there isn't a catch - they're really nice guitars...
No love for my B2 top? :(
-
I think we're waiting to see it finished, Nolly.
It does have a very nice grain. I can imagine it popping out so much more when clearcoated.
-
I actually really liked one of those semi-hollow artcore's I played a while ago!
And Nolly- it looks cool! Remember to keep us updated when it's all done though.
Framus Cobra, black Orange 4x12, Blackmachine with... Bareknuckles? DAAAAYYYUMMM!!!!
-
Here's a pic of the body halfway through the staining process then! According to Doug you see different aspects of the grain when you look at it from different angles. I reckon the ivoroid binding will really set it off.

Too flat bottomed for my tastes
-
That is so much nicer than the other pic. Very beautiful piece of wood.
-
Yeah I guess it's a better pic.. I just like how you can see that crinkly figuring really clearly in the other one. Still ahve to decide on a fretboard wood for it...
-
I agree- that's a much better pic!
I can kinda see what Doug is saying even from the photo (I think)- sometimes the horizontal quilt stands out, but then at times the vertical figuring is more prominent. Nice.
And I quite like the flat bottom!
EDIT: Ebony fretboard for sure!
-
F&%$@# Chist!!!!!!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TOP! :o
Speechless...
-
F&%$@# Chist!!!!!!

Speechless...
Yeah that was my reaction when I first got the pics!
*extreme smugness alert* At this point, I like to point out that the wood is 100yrs old, and over a cm thick...

F&%$@# Chist!!!!!!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TOP! :o
Speechless...
I was thinking the exact opposite *vomits* Bit too tacky for my liking, plain top or light flame ftw.

Yeah well, YOUR FACE is a bit too tacky.
(obviously just taking the piss. no offence meant)

I LOVE DC747s!!
Such gorgeous guitars!

I know, I'm tempted to maybe go for one instead of a Ran 7, but either way, if I get a Ran 7, it'll be with a similar finish to this :D
