Hey guys.
I'm bored and can't be arsed to go to bed, so thought I'd post a few bad pics of some guitars I've picked up over the last 2 days. Sorry for the quality, the camera is dead and my phone is rubbish at photos!
I picked this 1st 1 up from Dave (Twinfan) on Saturday morning at a service station just south of Leeds..

It's a 2005 Faded Flying V (now marketed as the V-Factor by Gibson  ). It still has it's original 500T and 496R Ceramic pickups, which sound better than I thought they would to be honest. I've tried them in guitars before and never liked them, but they seem ok in this V.
This next 1 is an Ibanez S470 with (apparently) Dimarzio pickups, which I picked up tonight

The story behind this guitar is that I've been trying to sell my Yamaha bass for a while now, with no luck. Until last night when I received a text message from a guy asking if I'd be upfor doing a straight swap for his Ibanez guitar as he needs a bass asap.
As the bass has been sat there doing nothing for the last year or so, I thought why not :)
I've managed to try the V through my rack and thought it sounded great, but haven't tried the Ibanez through anything yet.
If I decide to keep the Ibanez over my Charvel (1 of them is going), then I might take the Cold Sweat and Trilogy out of the Charvel and put the (s'pposed) Dimarzio bridge and single coil back in the Charvel to sell it with. Although the Ibanez body is very thin, so maybe a Cold Sweat will be too bright
Pickups can wait for the time being, but thought I'd post a few pics anyway!

Thats quite a rate of guitar-buying!!
See how long you can keep it up for
Happy new guitar days!!

Nice work matey - I told you the V was a good 'un ;)

nice!

Nice one! (or two)! :D
I always feel a bit shady doing deals in public places. I remember buying my Jackson- passers by must have been concerned that I was handing over cash for a large, black, rectangular case in a Sainsburys car park at 11 o clock at night.

Yup, you were right too! It took a while for me to get it on a strap where it felt comfortable, but after I'd managed that, I played it for a few hours straight, which hasn't happened in a while :)

We did 'the deal' in my car due to it raining, before I headed inside and Gate Crashed Dave's coffee break with his wife (I'm sorry, I can't remember her name, am rubbish with names! )

It's Rach matey ;)

Well on the whole sounds like a much more enjoyable process than mine.
Good stuff. :)

Ah yes, so it is ;)
She's the ONLY wife/girlfriend/spouse of a guitarist that I've EVER met that shows anysort of interest in guitar gear.
I asked Dave about his Mira, and he directed the question over to Rach, how cool is that :D My girlfriend would have looked at you blankly thinking you'd been smoking crack!

She's learnt pretty well from me ;)
She's a big fan of Mesas combined with PRSs and can pick out their tones from a track (seriously!). She's not bad at picking out an LP with a Marshall too.
My wife's great :D

I think there's more than the desire of having guitars lurking on this topic. :P
But back onto the topic - good trade of your bass for the S series, not that it's an S series, it's just that you got another guitar for a bass you don't use. :)

Cheers guys :)
After playing around with the Ibanez for the last few days I think I'm going to keep it and sell on my Charvel, as I prefer how it plays and sounds :)
It currently has Dimarzios in it at the minute from what I can tell, so what I may do is take the Cold Sweat and Trilogy out of my Charvel, put them in the Ibanez and then get a matching Cold Sweat neck for it too. I can then sell the Charvel with the Dimarzios in and recoup a bit of cash.
Does anyone have a clue how a CS/Trilogy/CS may sound in a thin mahogany bodied guitar?
