Crunch Boxes are really good pedals. I had one for a while just to see what it sounded like really. Running it into my laney with the amps gain low so it was clean, it sounded almost identical to the laney with the gain turned up :) Just a bit less clear. Great tone though all the same.

Now i don't know if i want a Blackstar HT Dist/DistX/Dual or Crunch box...!

Or a Carl Martin Plexitone or an OCD or or or... yeah.

Or maybe, i should just get a Tonelab.

Hi,

I ordered a Crunch Box but it got lost in the post so the shop that sent it asked if i wanted to wait for another or get my money back. I said i was interested in the Blackstar pedal dual and they said they'd send me one to try and if i didnt like it they'd refund me the money.

Anyway... its awsome. A month later Royal mail found the crunch box and i asked the shop if i could try it and compare and they said sure...

so i did and the crunch box is amazing for £60. Much better then my DS1.

However, although the Dual is £130 its worth every penny. Its a better sounding pedal in my opinion and is SO versatile. It can cover a huge spectrum of sounds. Its a large pedal but it comes with a power supply to run it on 300volts. I think its the tubes it uses. I cant explain it. It sounds more organic and more amp like?!

Its the best pedal ive ever bought. If you have the money id get the dual.

You wont be dissapointed with the crunch box for £60 if your after the marshall tone.its very good.

I havent tried the single pedals blackstar. If you have various pedals already and only want one of the sounds the dual produces then the singles are around £90 i think?

I have owned the HT Dual and currently own a Crunch Box. The CB does one sound (hot-rodded Marshall) slightly better than the Dual. But the Dual has a 100 other top quality sounds as well. If you can stretch to it, I'd get an HT Dual. I regret selling mine now.

I bought a Blackstar Dist X thinking I could get some mega filthy distortion at low volumes-can't say I'm that impressed as it lacks presence and is quite noisey at high gains. I will try swapping out the valve and see what happens.

Just realised I have this old clip of me comparing the Crunch Box and my Laneys own gain. Its pretty much identical when I listen back to it.

First is the CB then Laney gain :)

I have both currently.  The Dual is the better pedal by far in my opinion.  More organic, more amp life, responds better to picking etc.  If you want a small, battery powered Marshall in a box then the Crunch Box is the best option.  If you want a really flexible gain box with an awesome tone then the Dual is the one to get.
