Sigh, I had been hoping that he would recover from his latest health issues.

Damn I can't even play any of his stuff when I het home cos it's all on proper records.

Buddy Miles also died (but last Tuesday)

Gutted.  I was a huge fan in the nineties, and when I saw him at the Manchester Apollo he was awesome.  Interacting with the audience like he was playing a gig in his living room.  He really inspired my playing, as did SRV, as I was really into 'energetic' blues at the time.

RIP Jeff  :(

He was awesome.  I remember Gary Moore talking about him years ago, saying what a phenomenal player he was.

Oh no! I didn't know he was ill ... just rediscovered him recently and he was my hero for quite a while back in the 90s. He was one of the most passionate players out there. May he rest in peace and keep on playing in the afterlife!!

Just like you Hunter, I was just getting back into his music recently. I first heard him on Tommy Vance's  Friday rockshow around the time See The Light came out and I was so impressed. Such soul and pure tone, even from a Squier Strat!
It's so sad to lose him, but at least he had the chance to inspire us and to play some damn good music.
RIP Jeff.

Heard on the radio that he was 41 and died of retina cancer - goodness must be awful. Poor guy!

He had an awesome tone, especially his wah sound - did he use a DOD wah, right? And what were those red pickups called?

Tim, I think it's time for a Jeff Healey signature set, his tone was distinct enough to justify them and red pickups called "Confidence Man" are missing in your lineup.

I'd buy a set of those  :)

Maybe do them as a special run, with some cash going to a cancer charity???

What a great shame. He was a fantastic player and a really nice bloke. I never knew he was ill.

They were Evans Eliminators - basically a stacked humbucker.

I saw him at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1990 - the one that was recorded for a live album.  He was great that night, and when he came out for the encore, he brought a camera with him and pointed at the audience.  He said he wanted a photograph to remember us!!

Another great guitarist bites the dust

Found out in work today. Like many, I didn't know he was ill. It's a real shame, he was a unique guitar player, and a great singer too. Sad loss to the world of music, RIP Jeff.

Good idea. "Roadhouse" would be a nice name too.

Just got his last album  - emphasises what a loss he is. The whole thing has real intimate feel (some songs recorded in small clubs) and just transports you back about 60 years. Dave Murphy provides some excellent barrelling blues piano, but it's JH's playing that as ever sets it apart - the blistering delivery of before is still there but now comes with added jazz reflections which really keeps you on your toes. Even styles of blues I would normally skip through keep you hooked to the end.

For this board I reckon the stand out track is "It's only money" - the refrain of "Spend it, Spend it" could accompany many a GAS attack! :)
