For those amongst you who use windows, here is a software that emulates all different kinds of classic amp tone stacks and while turning the bass/mid/treble potis you will see the resulting EQ curve.
This is a bit scientific, but can help understand differences between the several amp designs.

Very interesting! I study music technology for an MSc and after that I want to get involved in manufacturing audio systems/music electronic equipment etc. Thanks for the link!

It's quite accurate too. I've used it previously to compare my amps and putting in the spec of my different heads, and my preferred settings, I actually get a similar EQ curve for each of them!
Goes to show you that your ears know what you like and you tune you amp(s) to suit......

Huh?

i've seen this before - but never actually installed it. after reading this post i decided to, and its definately instructive!

Too many Flying Vs with BKPs - they won't fit on my signature line any more

oh that Feline is painfully nice, love those knobs. Was it the last you bought as you state in that post?

yeah! the feline is by far the best playing guitar i have. i didn't 100% find the right pickups for him so far though. i like the vintage hot feeling of the cold sweat, but the bass response is too flabby. the miracle man gives tight bass response, but sounds too modern for the classic look of the guitar. this is why i'm thinking of rebel yells, which tim states work well in Vs.
the feline was the last i brought. but recently i was thinking about breaking my promise... :o

thanks. i've downloaded it anyway, and it seems to work. :)

I use the Duncan tonestack simulater all the time when I'm modding amps or pedals to judge the effect of various mods.
I has so far predicted what I've got in practice every time - of course it helps if you know your frequencies and can 'hear' the effect of a 3db boost from 500Hz down in your head.
