Title: Back in Black
Post by: Ian Price on March 11, 2008, 10:20:51 PM
For some reason I had never listened to this album until today. Does this mean there is something wrong with me?

Also, I had never seen The Great Escape until a couple of years ago.

It seems this AC/DC virus is worse than we first thought - the boys down at the lab are working on a cure and you'll all be loving the 'DC by this time next week

Seriously though, how can you not like AC/DC? (WTF!!!)  :?

I mean, I've heard of people not really being a huge 'DC fan...

But people who actually HATE them?!

I didn't think such life-forms existed.      :?  :o

'DC needs to be cranked, when your out and about, or with your mates. I'd never listen to it at home.

I still haven't. I've only got 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap'  (And I only got that a few weeks ago...)

Can I just add that I don't like ET? And I've never seen Titanic...

(Why do I want to add 'Jaws was never my scene and I don't like Star Wars')?

I used to really like ACDC but I've gone off them so much recently. Still a great tone and great players but I get sick of all the songs sounding exactly the same. Does this mean I'm turning into a woman, Kilby? :o

Dunno about turning into a woman, but definately going a bit girly ;)

TBH I havn't been too interested in the material they have produced since Back in Black, though live they are still a joy to behold (which is amazing in itself).

They still make me happy when I hear them, but my preference is for the earlier material

The girl comment was due to the fact that when I was younger (much younger) even the girls into rock who adored Gillen, Tygers of Pan Tang Thin Lizzy and the like, never seemed to like DC

I'd love AC/DC if they got shot of that dreadful excuse for a singer they got to replace Bon Scott.

You'll get no anti-AC/DC sentiments from me!  :)   I've got just about everything they've done, including the Australian versions of the early albums.  Well, except for some of the DVDs.

I agree that the stuff with Brian has never quite equalled the Bon years, even though he's been with the band 3 times as long now.  Powerage is the pick of the bunch for me.

(Oh, and I like Jethro Tull.  I'll take those four consecutive listens of Aqualung, voluntarily!)

One of the best rock albums ever although I prefer the If you want blood... live album for the shear energy! I listen to it all the time at work and I can't stop moving to the beat then someone looks at me all funny

I know you're kidding, but they have different track listings.  The Oz versions of High Voltage, Dirty Deeds and Let There Be Rock are all different from the rest-of-the-world versions, and there's an "extra" Oz album, TNT.

The R-O-W version of High Voltage was a sort of "best of" the Australian High Voltage and TNT albums. A lot of the "missing" tracks from those records turned up on the '74 Jailbreak album.

Don't own ANY AD/DC stuff, but when I was a kid in garage bands their songs were always the common ground for getting to know other musicians.  Almost an intrinsic understanding of how to play Whole Lotta Rosie or Shook Me All Night Long without ever having actually heard the originals or knowing what the chords were.

Respect for that alone.

Has anyone mentioned Amy Winehouse yet?

Yeah that puts me off the newer acdc stuff as well, hes really shite in comparison. I still wanna see them live though. I have some of their live stuff on my computer and its much better than the studio albums. I really like the If You Want Blood.. live album :D It features the greatest rock tone ever.

AC/DC are a great band. Back in black is an album without a cr@p song on it which is rare. I preferred the Scott era stuff though
