First Post. :D
I just bought a Les Paul Custom with the Gibson 498T pick-ups. These pick-ups were designed to emphasize the high-mids/highs. I prefer a warmer tone with a smooth top end. I mostly play metal along the lines of lamb of god, killswitch engage and the like.
I'm considering the holy divers or the nail bombs. They appear to have a similar output level, how do they compare on the eq scale? which do you think would suit my LP better?
Thanks

Heh funny enough i have the same guitar and play the same stuff as you! ...And asked that same question a few weeeks ago just before i bought the pickups!
In the end i went for a calibrated set of Miracle Mans and they REALLY suit the guitar. They are unbelievably tight at the low end and is great for chugging on the low (D) string - think, Foot to the Throat and Pathetic by Lamb of God...
I think the Nailbombs are supposed to have more mids than the Miracle Mans but the MMs have more high end clarity...and sound more brutal!

hey man!
well... i had the holy diver, then the miracle man, then the holy diver again, and now the miracle man again (in the same japanese les paul)
i played them both in another les paul too (made of brazilian mahogany, brazilian rosewood, imbuya top)
i'd say the miracle is better for these bands, BUT the holy diver sounds smoother and fuller in every frequency
the miracle man is a full metal only pickup
its tightness helps a lot with the palm mute rhythms
it's very focused and in-your-face
the holy diver sounds massive, but has about 20% less output than the miracle man (which can be compensed with a booster... i use my wylde overdrive output on 10 with the holy diver, 7.5 with the miracle man)
both are great for this style, but if you want a really organic tone with smooth highs, then the holy diver is the pup
if you're using a looser amp, like a recto or triaxis, then i recommend the miracle man
i had a single recto, and the miracle man sounded better than the holy diver on it, as it helps to take off the bass mud

The answer is Nailbomb calibrated set. They will be uncovered black with gold srews and poles. They will look killer in this..

Get black covers with gold polepieces. It looks really good and better than uncovered I think.

I considered something similar, however, I prefer uncovered pick-ups. There is a pick of a LP with a black uncovered neck pick-up with gold poles and screws in the thread below that sold it for me. Scroll down, there is a zebra pup in the bridge.

The Herbert is my all time favorite amp. The Diezel cab has all v30s. The Bogner cab has v30s/g12T75s in an X-pattern.
I'm selling the Splawn because I just got a VHT Sig X and prefer it. I think I want another Uberschall too. Too much GAS

I once played a Herbert through a Diezel cab with all K100s - Best tone I've ever heard in an amp.
Period.

Very nice selection of amps. I like Killswitch E. too, I read they were using the Nitro on their current tour. Looking forward to hear from you and the Nailbomb set running through those amps... Nice!
