Title: New Reverends
Post by: Ratrod on August 29, 2005, 12:53:00 PM
I want one! Reverend has heard my prayers about a hollowbody rockabilly guitar. I'm cancelling all my plans for new stuff (except the Keeley Mod).

This is it! The Reverend Flatroc!

It's all subjective Mr Smith!

I think it's very nice!

are those pickups mini humbuckers?

I must say, aesthetically its not really my kind of thing but I imagine if a friend of mine had one I'd be kinda quietly desperate to play it... :)

Well, I love loud guitars, and while I would never own one, I can certainly see the appeal ... it's so bold!!!!
Title: 2nd hand Rev. review...
Post by: Drac on September 12, 2005, 07:33:26 AM
Hey Rat...
- my brother  ( bass player) has a Rev. bass, and he's very happy with it...
I would recommend this guitar yer drooling about over a Gretsch, or any other bigsby thing out there based on my bro's  rave reviews for sound, playability, fit & finish, etc.-
-thumbs up from Drac

I love the look of the new Revs. My Rev Commando GT has been in its case since I got a new toy (Ibanez AXS32) to play with, but I went back to it just the other day and was still mightily impressed by pretty much everything on the guitar.

The Flatroc is the same price as my Commando GT was though. After buying a hard case, paying VAT and duty etc., it'll probably cost around the £500 mark, and I was hoping the new Korean series would be a bit cheaper than that.

Oh well, better start saving!

I've done some research and asked some questions about the guitar. There's very little difference between the Flatroc and the Wolfman. The Flatroc has a more rounded top end and more pronounced midrange. To me the difference isn't enough to get it. I have a Wolfman already. So, I've bought a Dean Psychobilly this weekend.

The pickups of the Rev are dual screw coil mini humbuckers based on Filtertrons. Joe Naylor (founder of Reverend) designs the pickups but who actually makes them is a big secret. The pickups are excellent though. (Not as good as BKP but still very good)

If I didn't have my Wolfman, I'd get the Flatroc.

The USA advanced series start at $899.- the korean Flatroc is $559.-.

The Wolfman sounds like a cross between a Tele Thinline and a Grestsh Duo Jet. It does the Malcolm Young thing spot on. These guitars are top quality.

Reverend's customer service is just like BKP's.
