Title: Wiring help, three way switch to split single h/b?
Post by: badgermark on March 16, 2008, 09:44:45 PM
So i'm turning my tele into an Esquire, single bridge humbucker baby yeah!

What's my best bet to split the HD I have? Use the now redundant three way switch? Or chuck in a mini switch where the tone control is?

My idea was to have a flicky switch to split the HD, and use the pickup switch to put a capacitor in the signal on positions 2 and 3, with the 'bridge' position only seeing a volume pot.

Doable? Or am I being silly?

You can use the Fender switch to give you HB Series, Single and HB Parallel.  It is almost the same wiring as a DPDT, but the commons are at opposite ends, so one side is wired reverse.  Check http://www.guitarelectronics.com, they might have a diagram.

Sounds awesome, had a look around and couldn't find a diagram anywhere. Any chance of a little more help? Pretty please?

If you want to get the super switch, there are 5 sounds you can get,
Series in Phase
Single Coil (North)
Parallel In Phase
Single Coil South
Series out of Phase

The guitar electronics single humbucker with rotary switch gives the wiring.  Just put the centre contacts as the common for each pole.
