Title: Had GAS over the weekend...
Post by: mikeluke on March 17, 2008, 09:45:46 AM
Bought this on a whim....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290214196592&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=019

What do the folks out there think? I thought that it was too good a deal to pass up - hope that I am proved right when it arrives!!

Any Riff Raffs going cheap?

Mike

I think that the 'B' means that it was originally a USA intended model - we will see when it arrives!

Excellent choice and a bargain as well. I hope you don't have a back problem 'cause they're heavy.

Ratrod -  I have an 89 Les Paul Standard that weighs a ton, so I am hoping that this will be not THAT heavy!  I am more worried about hiding it from the missus........

Haha i just failed at that with my new headphones... I'd have no chance with a whole guitar!

I quite like gibbons, although they're not as amusing as chimps.

Looks a great price.  Is it one of the bolt-on models?

Philly - not sure..... I think that is it a set-neck one but I admit that I am taking a bit of a punt on this one - doesn't say in the ad - worst case I guess that I should be able to flog it for at least what it has cost me.

I just did a quick search on the net and found a pdf catalogue for it here:
http://www.yamaha-europe.com/yamaha_europe/download/products/10_musical_instruments/guitars_basses_amps/electric_guitars/SG500B/index.php?country=uk
looks like it is a bolt on. Still looks like it will be pretty good tho....

Hide it at my house if you want.

TBH at first I didn't really like it that much, but the more I look at it, the more I do.  Now I like it a lot.  Would quite like to meet it in the flesh.

Good find!  Might need to do a quick in and out job back to Evil Bay once it arrives..... I really want an SG2000 but they are going for lots of £££ even if they are great guitars

Tone Monkey - down boy!

You've probably seen the eBay shop in Switzerland?  He has quite a few SG2000s and SG1000s.

I almost gave in to the temptation to buy one the other week, but I went scouting around for reviews and there were so many which said "these guitars are really heavy" that it put me off in the end.

My local store has an SG2000 and it is indeed very heavy - heavier than my solid, non chambered Gibson LP.

I'd still like to get one myself though. They are just a great guitar.

Well it arrived and very nice it is too - bolt-on neck and in need of a good clean of the fretboard but otherwise pretty good nice - based on a first look over the construction seems solid enough too.

Still hankering after an SG2000 though....
