Title: question for Tim???????
Post by: k5150 on April 03, 2005, 01:05:46 PM: i have a question for Tim,are you planning any pickups using Neodynium magnets like Seymour Duncan use on there Black back pickups,if so what type of effect do they have on the sound?

It's chicken and egg really, when I come across an application, I'll explore it.
Generally neo is very powerful,very cheap and readily available but I'm so loving the tone of the unpolished Alnico IIIs/ IVs and Vs we've had produced, I can't imagine using anything else-their tone is so instantly classic and balanced and they're lovelly to work with too. Cheap they're not and to a certain extent each one is unique which is something I really like-to bring individual character to each pickup within it's spec.

Thats where i mostly see neo magnets mentioned, sure mostly in speakers, but i've seen quite a few basses with neo-mag pickups... maybe theres something in it? extra clarity i've heard...
