Hello folks, :)
This going to sound very naive, but I have never yet had chance to try out my BKPs at rehersal / stage volume levels yet.
There is a video on 'You Tube' called " Gregor Hilden - Blues jam with '59 Les Paul ".
I love that tone to bits ! I realise theoretically that if he has the original '59 pickups in, it would be BKP Mules that are built similar ( but a bit hotter ? ). However, I am also wondering if the cooler wind and softer Alnico II magnet of my Stormy Mondays would be closer ?
The other clues are that he plays 11 - 50 strings, mostly through a Fender or Fender type amp ( which I have ).
If you get a moment, please have a look at the video and let me know what you think would best be loaded and left in my Les Paul Standard for that tone .
I also hope you enjoy the smooth music ... 8)
Cheers !

Have you got a link for the youtube video?

I think he means this one:

Thanks very much Ilyti, that's the one ! :D
I am rubbish at inserting links and all that techy stuff. When I tried, it inserted a huge block of script  .
Your willingness to 'help the aged' is much appreciated ....

Well, I have had both pickups and would say that is achievable with either one.
Although, I think the Stormy Monday would nail it!
It's just so clear and pronounced, perfect for such tunes.

AII Stormy Monday all the way Derek :)
I've got to get me a set in a Les Paul.......

Thanks for the helpfull replies :D
I am fitting some GHS burnished nickel strings on the beauty tommorow, and thought this would be a good chance to swap the pickups / install the Stormys if I got the confirmation from you before then !
Cheers !

I now have this overwhelming urge to replace my Emerald neck with a Stormy Monday neck pup ....

Nice clip, and I agree that the AII Stormy Monday would give you that tone.
For me personally, it's a little too bright and clear for a neck tone, I think I'd (probably) prefer a Mule neck. I'm going to try my SM neck in an SG, it might be a little darker and mushier in all-mahogany.
