Does anyone have experience with the vertical 2x12 cabs?
Ive been looking at these and it seems the smaller footprint is what I need. Also what do the V60 loaded cabs sound like compared to the vintage 30 cabs? as Ive only ever tried the vintage 30 ones.

No experience withe their 2x12" cabs......but the XXL cab with
v 30 speakers is REALLY good, the ones with v60 (4x12") sound really boomy and strange, no mids, fizzy top end, too much bass, not nice........ The XXL is balanced and has a really even tone, an other brand to check out is Hughes&Kettner CC or VC series cabs, they come with Greenbacks or V30 speakers.........However,
one should not ever buy a cab based on what speakers are mounted in the cab, that really doesn't tell you anything about how the cab sounds, a good example is the Engl XXL and the Mesa recto cab, same speakers, completely different tone. the final tone is a sum of many things happening with the cab itself when played through, and personally I wouldn't mess around when buying a cab since the cab is half the tone and a bad cab can totally ruin your tone (I've had this happen to me on a few okations when I had to use someone else's cabs, the head was a Diezel VH4 so no complaints in that department).
Personally I would go for a cab that has an even tone across the different frequency ranges. That allows you to use your EQ to a much fuller extent and you just get more out of the amp that way.
.....just my 2 cents on the cab issue..... :D

ENGL cabs are shitee, unless someone poses a clip to prove me wrong.

i like mine very much.....standard 4x12 8)
Find the bottom end tight, the mids and top are excellent. But I am not a lead player, for the rhythm work it sounds awesome.
Whether it would cut it for lead work could not comment on but for rhythm work they rock!
my 2 pence worth...

I guess since you said the last part - You've never played one?

Not a cab, no.

So what are you basing that rather large statement on then? :gib:
When I played on the vertical 2x12 with the vintage 30's in it I AB'ed it with a V30 loaded marshall 1936 and the ENGL ate it for breakfast, in tone and build quality. I was just asking what the tonal diffrences were between the V60 and V30 loaded cabs.

Just take my comment as "a response from another person's response", i.e. Don't blame me!

I love my ENGL 2x12 horizontal cabs, loads of sweet mids which is what i personally look for.
