(this might be better in another section)
for example this one:

but theres others around... obviously they won't be microphonic, due to being non metallic, so could be an option for people to fit themselves.
i myself am thinking about it. would they affect the sound? obviously it won't be possible to be as close to the strings. has anyone else tried them - what about quality?
cheers!

A luthier here told me that they don't affect the sound and he recommended them to me. I don't know how they can be mounted on the pickups though.
-
I think you just push them in, so they're snug.
-
Cool! So, you can put them on and take them off anytime. I'm thinking to use these too, to change from zebra look to EMG look and back, occasionally.

Yep, my Charvel had a J90C which had a plastic cover. Didnt really affect the tone other than you could get it closer to the strings and I think thats about it. Just pushed on and off.

Course you're gonna have to take your strings off and stuff, which might be tedious. Unless you decide whether to put them on when you're changing strings.

Yes something like that would work for me. However for a Floyd Rose guitar you can do the 9V battery trick ;) to put it under the tremolo etc but I don't need to change the covers so frequently. :)

well, on the strength of this i brought a set of white ones - they seem pretty good actually - just the right level of grip on the pickup.

I would like to have it in Single-coils...
Anyone know if is possible to put it into a already made s.c.?

I think so. Check this:

Yes. The covers you see on single coils are not attached to the actual pickups as they are plastic and so do not need potting or soldering on to ground them.
It would simply be a case of sliding one off and replacing it.
I'd be tempted to get one of those chrome ones from that link.

Yes. And I think that those without holes don't even require to remove the initial cover too. I'm not completely sure though...
