Title: How versatile is the Kustom HV65?
Post by: Reeven on March 29, 2008, 05:23:56 PM
Hi. I started another thread about my plans to get Rebel Yell pickups, and pretty much everyone suggested I get a new amp first. I was recommended this one, and I personally think it looks very, very good, but I was thinking about this the other day, and decided to see if anyone here has used this amp.

I'd love an amp that's versatile, and I know from clips I've heard that this amp can do blues and other clean sounds very well, but I'm wondering, can it also do distortion well, or would I have to buy a pedal for that?

I'm still trying to track one down - in Glasgow - so I can try it out. The clips sound really good and it doesn't appear to have any reliability issues either.

I'm not too keen on buying one, before I try it but at the (low) asking price I may just do that and flip it back if it doesn't suit me.

I've asked a store near me to order one so I can try it out before I buy it. If the distortion sounds solid, I can see (and hear) from reviews that it's a solid amp, so I'll buy it for sure. But if it can't do distortion well, in addition to that cleaner stuff I know it does well, then I may have to reconsider what amp I get.
