Just a random post, but as it continues to praise BKPs, why not ?
I had put the stock pickups back in my '76 S.G. Standard, thinking I might have to sell it at some point. I was sat re-aquainting myself with the feel of the guitar, ready for an upcoming social event / jam - and realised that life was just too short for 'adequate' pickups.
And so dear readers, the AII Stormy Monday's went back in, as well as fitting a set of GHS 'Burnished Nickel' strings. Oh my word ! It was nice to once again actually hear every nuance of the guitar's natural voice again - thanks to the sweetness and clarity that the SMs bring. In a purely mahogany guitar they sound less bright than in a maple capped guitar, but still clear and so sweet !
I then proceeded to noodle around through my practice amp via a Monster 'Jazz' cable and a splash of reverb. ( * Bliss * ).
Of course, the Gods of Rock'n'Roll might strike me down for making an S.G. sound so mellow, but it certainly reminded me that Tim's little wonders can deliver whatever we need in heaps. " All tastes catered for ".
Thanks again Tim ... 8)

Nothing wrong with a bit of mellow from an SG... so long as it's only the neck pickup of course.
I'm planning to transplant the AII SM from my Edwards V to my Tokai SG, with probably a Riff Raff in the bridge position.
Nice post, Derek. :)

That would be the perfect SG setup, in my opinion......

Yes, an S.G. that first bites you - and then kisses you better ...

It is a great description, but in my case it'll be more like an SG that first makes you sick...
...then carefully mops up the vomit.
