I decided to go for the F-50 head with the Marshall TSL212 cab! I have NO regrets at all, i LOVE the sound of the F-50 - it's got masses of gain and an UNBELIEVABLE clean channel!

I know the cab is a bit of a strange choice, but living in hong kong means there isn't going to be a wide variety to choose from and ordering from dealers would take 6-9 months!

So yeah, i highly, highly recommend you guys try this amp, its extremely versatile yet simple...and very affordable (and soon to be rare as its been discontinued)!

By the way, does anyone know when the F-50 was discontinued?

The F50 has always intrigued me, I've heard so many good things about it being a "one for all bases" type guitar - very good cleans, great crunch and enough gain to melt even the sternest of faces.

???

My only concern is that I'm generally not a fan of the overly modern "typical" Boogie Rectumfrier sound.

seems like it  was dicontinued in 06..I think harmony central has an f series lounge somewhere that might answer questions,etc

Haha, Mr Ed, i really did not like the rectifier distortion either when i tried the triple rectifer and roadster - the F-50's distortion is diffferent...smoother but tighter if that makes sense?

Hmmm, at the moment when i play with high gain and i hit a chord and immediately mute it (with no reverb) i get this weird metallic echo thing - does anyone know what this is?

I think an F50 might well be on my list of amps to buy when I get my £1,000 in November/December.

play it clean and loud and see if you hear it.(could be a speaker issue).could strings be smacking those MM pickups?

I can vouch for Boogies being hotter than a fried egg on a car bonnet in the Nevada desert.

I was at a guitar shop (don't know which one) in Denmark St. (when I was there for a Uni Open Day) and I picked up a CE24 - plugged it into a Mesa Boogie Dual Rect and I unfortunately (depends how you look at it I suppose) was sitting less than an arm's width from it and I struck a chord and nearly feel off my seat. And it wasn't even turned up that much.

Certainly scared the shite out of me that's for sure.

Haha yeah they are LOUD! Pis*es off the neighbours enough!

I think it could well be a speaker issue... i know it's not fret buzz or strings being close to the pickups etc etc...

Also, the gain seems to be lower than usual...hmm i seem to recall having this with my Marshall DSL401 a while ago but am trying to remember how i dealt with it... Im just gonna crank it tomorrow and see what happens! (its late now)

Could this echo thing be something to do with high gain through an open back cab? The speakers are Celestion V30s - any known issues with them?

And no, i don't get the chime with the clean channel i dont think.. i'll check again tomorrow...
