two amps:

Matamp Little rock in red and white livery with an old 70's carlsboro cab cut down to 2x12 size and recovered with red tolex

and a champ amp kit i built and need to re-house as a nice combo i think

Guitars (the keepers):
1 HSS with crawler and mothers milks
1 with a mule manhattan combo.

They are keepers because one i consider too flawed to sell but far too nice to destroy (although thats been considered)... its now staying as my main guitar.  the other is my fanned fret proto which is so nice i dont want to finish it off.. might sell it if i do ever finish it... gotta keep something back

Other BKP's i have had on my guitars
holydiver
mircale man
Holdworth 'prototype' humbucker
Nailbombs
BKP-92

also have some riff-raffs waiting to go on a guitar in the next two weeks (fingers crossed!!) and some nickle dog eared P-90's in the not to distant future

Amps: Only an Orange Tiny Terror and 1x12", having just sold my Rivera R55.
(Plus a PodXT and a very old Sessionette 75 which doesn't work).

My favourite:

Legra MDV602 with C-Pig and Cold Sweat

Into

Powerball

With Boss EQ20 in the FX, cutting about 3db of 6.4 k and 5db of 400Hz (to tame the slightly ice-pick highs and further tighten the bass)

Bogner Ubercab

---------

If anyone wants to know (if you dont, skip!!!!)

Others:

Amps/modellers
TSL 602 w/ JJs
Roland Cube 30 (I play through this most of the time)
Vox Tonelab LE
Pod XT

Guitars:

In rough order of preference (changes with application obviously, but in general)

Custom shop dean with Custom Miracle man and 2 x Uber trilogies

Jackson DX1 with WP/2x IT

Dean Z w/ Painkillers

Epi Beast w/ Swinshead Xbucker and Warthog

The Deathocaster (a westfield somethingorother cheapo) w/ Sinner bridge and stock neck and middle

Ibanez RG7321 w/ swinshead venoms

The Gimp: a no longer recognisable Hondo Deluxe 760, I think (I long since covered the headstock with a sticker) with a kent armstrong distortion in the bridge, a duncan designed single middle (that used to be in the jackson) and a neck humbucker made from the Dean's Dean SCs that are RCRW (so I couldnt resist). It used to be SSS, and has been modded in other ways many times.

In general use:
Orange Tiny Terror.
Calibrated ceramic warpig set in a Maverick prototype.

Out of general use:
Kustom 10watt practice amp (My first amp without battery power!)
Indie IT-70 (Not very nice hybrid amp)

Lent to an old (60+) folk musician:
Vintage Metal AXXE Razer with stock pickups (and hopefully never coming back!).

Acoustics (for the odd time I want one)
Guvnor electrocoustic in flame maple (only a veneer unfortunately)
Guvnor cheapo Dreadnought (currently tuned down to an alt. tuning with a low C. Much better than the electrocoustic and less than half the price although the fretwire is shot...)

I make that 14 guitars with BKPs, judging by the number of bridge pickups - but if you've mixed & matched with other brands I'm stumped.

Yep, the same 14 guitars I posted in the pics (http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5209&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=634) thread a month or so ago.

The only guitars where I've mixed BKPs with other brands are my Gothic V (microphonic Gibson vileness in the neck) & my '67 reissue V (Duncan Full Shred neck) - which is why neither of the pics of those two guitars shows the neck pickup ;)

what kind of specs are you going for on the Bass pickups phil.. i am currently convincing one of the local bands to have some BKP's made for his j-bass.  Tims suggestion is for a late 69 style wind with 42awg plain enamel wire.. sounds good but i am curous what you are getting

Calibrated Nailbombs in a Charvel ST Custom.

Orange GRO100, single channel 120 watt monster from 1971.  That into a Marshall non-angled 4x12.

Peavey Bandit 65.

Other stuff?

Blackstar HT Dual.
Small Clone
Coloursound Wah.
BYOC DOD 250 Clone.
DigiTech GNX3.
Boss BE5.
Simon & Patrick Spruce 6 Electro-Accoustic.
Hohner Accoustic.
Naff cheap-o bass from Ebay (cost thirty quid new...)
Calkwalk Home Studio 6 + Wavelab DAW.

Given that I've been playing pretty seriously for nearly 25 years, I have pitifully little gear...

They are going on an early 60's stackpot replica, so I wanted something similar to my 62 Precision wind.

Me and my wife (Prozacbear) share our gear:

Guitars:

Tokai LP - Nailbomb set
Fender Custom Shop Strat - Irish Tour set
Feline Tabby - Blackguard 50's
Ibanez S2170FW - Mississippi Queen neck, Piledriver middle, Nailbomb Bridge
Tokai 120 (335) - Stock pups (begging for stormy mondays)
AXL acoustic

Warpig set on order, probably for the Ibanez. And I think the Riff Raff set mentioned by wez is destined to head this way.

Amps:

Orange Rockerverb 50 into Orange 4x12 (V30's) via a hotplate
Orange Tiny Terror into Orange 1x12 (v30)
Peavey Valveking 112

Really not looking for an argument here, but I have to say I don't see any problem with 'new' players buying themselves decent equipment, and lots of it, if they can afford to do so. It seems to me that both Ailean and Prozacbear enjoy their playing and their gear, and why not?

To my mind, there's never been a rule that says 'you have to have played x number of years before you're allowed nice equipment'. And this is coming from a guy who had 1 guitar an an amp for the first 7 years of his playing.

That's fair enough, I wasn't having a go or anything. It's just that I've run across a lot of people in real life (as opposed to online) who reckon somebody shouldn't be allowed something gear-wise cos they haven't been playing long enough, which I think is a weird position to hold.

To clarify, I don't have a problem with it, I'm just wondering. If I could afford it, I'd have a bleedin' Steinway even though I can't play piano.

That's fair enough, I wasn't having a go or anything. It's just that I've run across a lot of people in real life (as opposed to online) who reckon somebody shouldn't be allowed something gear-wise cos they haven't been playing long enough, which I think is a weird position to hold.

I think that it's a lot to do with the world that we live in - we're generally far more afluent than we ever have been, and decent gear is pretty cheap these days.

I still can't afford any of it, mind you...

That's very true. Decent stuff is more affordable - used to be that you had a choice between the Encore Stratalike for £120, or the US Standard Strat at £850, with very little in between. Manufacturers have realised there's a lot of cash to be made out of the middle of the market.

Haven't you guys only played for a year or so? Whatever you do for a living, that's what I wanna do. Unless you're an accountant, in which case I don't envy you at all.

Yes we have gone rather nuts. I guess we both have ok jobs (biomedical scientist and software developer) a relitively cheap mortgage, no car, no kids. Although it's only been a year we have both been spending most of our spare time on our new hobby (if we had spent that time up the pub we probably have spent as much with nothing to show for it).

I got seriously ill about 18 months ago and kind of took up the guitar hobby to help my recovery, so as a concequence I have kind of taken it up obsessivly and put all my resources into it (time and money). Ailean being the supportive chap that he is has thrown himself into sharing the hobby and his resources with me.

Plus being able to get the sounds that I can out of our kit is awsome  :D

Ailean:- Yeah, it is a bit much for one year, and I have spent more than I should, but we are both tone junkies and it all gets used, more or less daily. :)

And it's a lovely thing to do as a couple

My girlfriend recently picked up the guitar again after giving up on it some 5 years ago. She's quickly becomming a gearhead too.

... I really should marry that bird, right?

Well a shared hooby doesn't make a relationship, but it's a very good sign :)

Yup I feel the same way. One year and ALL that gear?
I've played 3-4 years and I only have one amp, one or two guitars and two BKPs

Then you've got your priorities all wrong :)

Seriously, it's not THAT much gear & none of it is massively expensive.

It seems to me that ailean & Prozacbear have made some canny purchases (e.g. the way they snapped up the Feline tabby).  If they are getting enjoyment out of it then good luck to them.
