I was going to make an extravagant, sarcastic, and highly amusing picstory to introduce my new beast, but now it comes down to it, I can't really be arsed.

- 100yr old swamp reclaimed quilt maple top (1.1cm thick)
- 40yr old mahogany body, with 5 chambers
- rosewood neck, w/ebony fillets, ebony fingerboard
- Bareknuckle Painkiller set, 3-way coil-split mini-toggle
- Gotoh hardware, gunmetal
- DR Tite-fit Jeff Healey signatures 10-56, tuned to drop C
I can honestly say it is the best guitar I have seen, played, or heard. I simply cannot get over it.
There are more pictures on the Blackmachine website (http://www.blackmachine.net), but they do make the guitar look alot more gaudy than it does in the flesh.
-
:O
What about the PGM then Nolly?
-
OMFG!!! :o
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
-
I had trouble breathing when I saw those pics... I'd have a bleedin' heart attack if I saw it in person.
-
Cheers guys, believe it or not it actually looks even better in person. It really is stunning beyond belief.
Posh, the PGM is pretty much relegated to backup guitar status. The sheer tone of the Blackmachine is unreal, there's absolutely no contest between the two.
-
Christ! It's beautiful.
You're a lucky man.
And i think it's safe to say that is nicest blackmachine i have seen too. The best of the best..
And i LOVE the contoured top bit where it sort of eats in to and takes over the binding. Seriously cool. And the headstock of course :P
-
I'm sure if you'd put the word "Blackmachine" in the title of this thread you'd have 2 or 3 pages of praise and drooling by now! :D
Blackmachines aren't really my cup of tea (that's not meant as a criticism!), but it's a beautiful looking guitar, that's for sure! :)
-
I remember trying one out ages ago at an LGS event.
Not my cup of tea but it's certainly a beast of a guitar! Shame I used a Diezel amp :P. The Blackmachine felt awesome!
I bet it must've cost at least £1500.
-
There we go, the title has now been changed.
Posh, when I picked up the blackmachine, I got to have a long go through both a VH4 and a Herbert and AB them with my Cobra. I still dislike the Herbert, but the VH4 was completely different to how I remember it - it was actually a bloody nice amp...
Oh, and £1500 isn't even close tbh..
-
Holy shite!
That's one damn fine guitar you have there!
-
It's a really nice guitar
I was playing it on Tuesday prior to taking the photos that you see on the BM website.
I like the natural light photos that you have taken - looks more subtle than the ones we did with studio lighting
That maple cap is something else - and very expensive (not something you find around evry day).
Really hope you enjoy it - it's a nice piece of work
-
tis definately a thing of beauty - the quilt is pretty damn perfect
-
Congrats, that is one stunning guitar!!!
Good to see it's got some BKPs in, too :)

Jesus that is $%ing amazing, thanks for the gas!!!
-
good $% that looks like quilted redwood (i know it isn't)!! O M G!!! YOU bar-steward YOU JUST FURTHERED MY GAS FOR A BLACKMACHINE

Ah, I was hoping to hear your thoughts on it, Doug did say the photos were taken at your studio so I guessed you'd have had a gander.
The studio pictures do show the depth of the quilt off very well, and when the light catches it, the figuring certainly stands out to that degree, but they don't quite represent the understated class the guitar has in person.
I had a chance to use it at band practise this afternoon, and the sound was absolutely breathtaking - so clear and punchy.
-
I'm spent.
Its gorgeous - Now I need to go have a shower.
-
Wow... I hope that you would buy a better strap than the black and white one for this beast.
I want a Blackmachine 8 String SO BAD.
-
Wow... I hope that you would buy a better strap than the black and white one for this beast.
I actually much prefer the feel of webbing straps to leather etc, so the strap I've got on it is just a plain black Levy's one, albeit the best quality webbing one available.
-
Sick, sick guitar man. I can hardly wait for 2009 now :D Doug's been talking about a redwood top... but I must say, I doubt it could be as nice as your maple one is. That has, by far, the nicest figure I have ever seen on a natural finish guitar ever.
-
Between you and Dez posting, I have a pr0n setup for life....bloody hell....
I think I may just install a toilet roll dispenser next to my computer if this carries on.
Lovely guitar chap, looks like teh sexx0r. Bet it sounds bloody perfect too. Any clips coming our way anytime soon?

Don't underestimate Doug's private stock of wood, there are some FANTASTIC pieces of wood there, including a couple more quilt tops that could well give this one a run for its money. Some of the spalt he has is ridiculous - for example one piece is spalted, burled and flamed..

I'm not sure it'd be right to say exactly how much it was, but rest assured, it's alot closer to £1500 than £8000... ;)
Clips will be done, but I've been an idiot and left my Framus' kettle lead at a mate's house, so until I get that back I'm left playing unplugged :(
-
absolutely awesome. and that top's amazing. :)
-
Now that looks perdy :o :D
-
So Nolly, when can we see/hear you tearing it up on that one?
-
not cool you ass, those pics are not cool because they make me ten times more jealous.

Wow dude, what a beautiful guitar. I already saw your thread about this on Sevenstring, but for some reason it didn't really hit me until now. Just absolutely gorgeous. Congrats!
My new custom comes today myself, I'm pretty excited :)
-
I love it without the flash on- it somehow makes it look really classy and elegant. Stunning.
With the flash you can see just how crazy the top actually is... it's insane... :o
Beautiful guitar anyway, bet you can't wait to try it through the Framus'...

Yeah that's exactly what I love about it as well. It looks really organic, elegant and classy most of the time, but when the light catches the top it's just mental.
And I'm sorry to say, the Framus is up for sale. When I went down to Doug's, I tried my beast through a Diezel VH4, and the rest is history. It was instantly "that" sound I've had in my head and been chasing. I had even got my Framus on hand to AB the two, and I realised that the Framus' modern voicing just isn't what I'm after, despite how beautifully open and clear it is.
So, yes, I am now going to be one of those generic Blackmachine/Diezel owners..
I'll have an ad up in the Seconds Out section in a few mins for the Framus.
But anyway... the light outside was lovely, so ...more pics!!!

You're so not rock'n'roll.

Hehe, chill out guys, there's a large cloth under the guitar.
Still, I fear there might have been some damage. You can send it to me for inspection, absolutely free of charge!
;) Seriously though, one of the best-looking guitars I've EVER seen in my life. Many quilted tops look over-the-top for me, but that one is just amazing. Elegant yet flashy!
Congrats man!
-
I'm not normally a fan of Blackmachine- but gotta say I do like that one, old/reclaimed wood is v cool.
No,no,no I really do have enough guitars......................
-
That quilt top is absolutely amazing! any chance of some clips?

Arghh sorry guys, clips/videos are going to be done, but I've just been really really busy this last week! Hopefully I'll get something done over the weekend.

Yeah just noticed your ad! It was tempting actually, as I've just saved up EXACTLY £900 to buy an amp this week (weird coincidence!? ), but my sensible side took over and I realised it's totally unsuitable for me.
Just looking at the product info for the VH4 on the Diezel site- really is insane. You must be getting pretty close to a dream setup now, surely? :)
Oh and the first and second pictures of the most recent batch take the cake- amazing.
-
You must be getting pretty close to a dream setup now, surely? :)
Close, yes, but there are still things to get. I have it all planned out you see, it's not just a case of sporadic random purchases :) After the Diezel I'll be getting a rack system together, then it's pretty much just more guitars. (By which I mean.. more Blackmachines  )

That guitar is pure sex

Nolly, this is a custom B2 or it's completely custom???
-

Sorry, not sure I follow exactly. It's a B2 with a private stock quilt top. Is that what you meant?
-
Yeah! Thank you!
-
That guitar is pure sex
That about sums it up.
On a similar note, i still envy your setup. 'Tis the kit of Gods and Demons!
-
She is beautiful indeed. It's been 5 months and I still get the same excitement looking at her. It's interesting to see how much the maple has aged to darker hue.
-
Nolly.
You best have land mines around your house.

Congrats Nolly. That certainly is a stunner.
And this is coming from a confirmed Quilt hater!
-
Yeah, I must admit, although it's not quite my thing - it does look absolutely stunning.

I'm going to have to ask Doug for a 101 year old top, and a 41 year old body on mine. Even then, I don't think it will be nicer than this thing
-
:lol:Hahahahahaa.

Haha, apparently the bloke that Doug got the top from has a 2nd piece but hasn't been persuaded to part with it yet!

I heard that as well. But Doug also said he had some excellent quilt billets coming in that are destined to be used as one-piece tops :o
