I'm into all the heavier type of playing if thats ani help!
Cheers,

Oh yer, im lookin for a very heavy distortion/overdrive which will scream the hell out of ma guitar/amp in bent notes and pinched harmonics
thanks agen guys,
Jonny!

if its a valve amp, you could get maybe the Zakk Wylde overdrive to boost your overdrive/dist channel into higher gain for solos etc? If you cant afford the Zakk, any other overdrive should do the same thing I guess. I have no idea for the other slot that needs filling though :P
-
ok thnx!
Yer its a tube amp lol! I need summat to really scream the harmonics and bent notes, so du u think that'd work?
And what else is there out there?
-
I'd guess that'll work, seeing as its Zakks pedal  But then again we dont know that artists actually use their artist series stuff hehe. I think most overdrives will do this, so long as you keep the gain down and level right up I think.

okay cheers well iv got the cash so ill give it a try n let ya know how it goes! cheers!

yeah, if you get the Zakk, let me know what its like boosting a slightly breaking up valve clean channel, so without the pedal on, its like a crunchy/clean sound, then you switch it on it'll give a kinda led zeppelinny, upto GnR amount of gain? I was thiknin about replacing my TS7 with one coz lower notes on the TS7 are a bit muddy

I think it's farely safe to say Zakk uses it, he's very particular about anything he puts his name on and won't approve anything that he wouldn't use. I think it's designed to replicate a full on JCM800 with more harmonics and a "deranged" wide tone, but apparently they clean up very well for lower gain stuff, and can go to full on drop B tuned madness.

From what I gather, the Zakk Wylde Overdrive is made to boost an amp into further Overdrive and distortion. Not provide the tone of a cranked Jcm800 from the pedal alone.
Zakk sued to use a BOSS SD1 for this purpose, and he replaced it with the Zakk OD. So I'd imagine it does the same job :)

thats what i was thinking... there has to be some noticable difference between the sd-1 and the zw-44 surely for the price difference, i might go down to music shop and have a go with them. i was thinking about getting either one of them anyways. anyone know of any really good analogue overdrives suitable for kicking a jcm800 into meltdown?

You might want to try one of Keeley's Java or Katana boosts. I've got a Java Boost. I don't use it all the time but it gives a nice vintage boosted tone - bit like Eric Clapton on Crossroads or Sunshine Of Your Love.

Watford Valves have some cool pedals a bit cheaper than elsewhere.

I bought an analogman modded SD1 off HJM the other week and I am loving it. On its own, its a nice overdrive, but if you run it into an already overdriven amp its giving me some of the most addictive lead tones ive come across. I'm guessing that the Keeley mod is the same, although I remember HJM saying the analogman mod is less 'hairy'.
