Nope, not looking back on my few days spent in an ABBA tribute band (I HATE ABBA!!!), just bemoaning the fact that life is EXPENSIVE!
The wife and I are looking around at cars, and we're resigned to the fact that we're gonna be broke for the next few years paying for it... And it's not even a luxury, we need the damn thing to fit the kids in.
What happened to those wonderful, youthful days when the money that you earned went straight into the next FX box or amp that you wanted?
I HATE being a responsible adult...
Whinge over (and yes; I'm well aware that things could be MUCH worse...)
Mark.

Well, when I was a bit younger I predicted by becoming a father this sort of thing would happen. So I'm not!

Yep, that's the ticket. It's a Mazda 5 for us...
On the plus side, it'll fit a Marshall 4x12 in the back with no real bother...

Mazda 5's are good. I hired one last year in Cornwall.

Makes bringing the big toys home from the music store so much easier

I have surplus cash right now, started a job and our student loans are covering bills and rent nicely, so I keep eyeing up new purchases. I know in a few years I wont be as financially overflowing, but I plan to enjoy it while it lasts. I eyed up a PRS singlecut SE today, knowing that you have the cash is such a tease (my other half would murder me).

Make the most of it, my son.
Bless you.

and mazdas are the most reliable cars ever made, or at least according to a reliability survey I read 6 or so months ago, so I'll survive longer than the human race will

My amps like to travel at high speed in an M3.
I can imagine it's a pain in the arse getting a 4x12 in and out of a smallish car though.

I really don't understand why anyone buys cars new, i really really don't.
It's -exactly- like running around throwing money everywhere, they depreciate far too fast!
I'm only ever going to buy good condition second hand cars.

Yep, I understand that.
However, when I own a car I own it forever. It's not an investment as such, I'll run it into the ground over the next 12 years or so. So I might take an initial 2 grand hit up front, bit over the next decade that's not such a big deal.
Also, decent second hand dealers are finding it difficult to match the deals that are available at the moment on new cars. You can easily talk 2/3 K off a new car these days, and that's pretty much all you'll get off a 6 month old car at a reputable second hand dealer.
Horses for courses though. I do get a sick feeling in my stomach thinking that as soon as I drive a new car out of the showroom I'm losing the price of a new Feline....

I was looking at a trade car site the other day:
2 year old BMW 730d - new price after discount ? Around £48K - trader is asking just under £20K and it has less than 40,000 on the clock - so, that is over a grand a month in depreciation alone!!
