8 songs....

not super complex but not really simple..

I got messaged on myspace by a promotions company in leeds who arranged a gig and the headliner (evile) pulled out due to the dates conflicting with there tour with Exodus.

So we've got until the 21st of may....

I reckon we could do it with us practicing for 3 hours together each sunday.

We could also throw some extra practice in.

So i reckon now the only worry is being the replacement for.

www.myspace.com/evileuk

and will we be able to top them as theyre tight as hell live.

Depends on the drummer, but that seems a reasonable amount of time.  If you record those 8 songs, even if it's a rough recording, he can play along to get the timing better.  That way he can practice on days besides the Sundays you get together.  It always helped my friends and I to do our "homework" before getting together.

My experience of drummers has rarely been positive...

I think that often they take the attitude that they don't actually need to learn anything.  As guitarists we generally put effort into getting songs right - I think that drummers sometimes think that they just need to keep a beat.

Having said that I've had the pleasure of knowing a couple of excellent drummers, one of whom I'd rate as one of the best I've heard, pro or otherwise.

Mark.

Use a drum machine - as the very old joke goes, you only have to punch the instructions in once!!!!

:-)
