Hey guys.
Here's a quick clip I recorded a few days ago to try out my recording setup at home.
It's not very good, and the Overdriven guitar sounds rubbish (my amps fault as I couldn't crank it), but thought I'd post it anyway :)

35 people viewed so far. Has anyone actually listened? lol

Tried to get it as I'd quite like to hear the black dogs but my computer doesn't want to for some reason. Any chance you can post it here as an mp3 so I can download it?

I checked it out. Good stuff. Im taking it as a mess around but sounds cool. I like the drums, nice programming.
what guitar where you using?
-
Finally got it! It's really interesting listening to it and playing with the left/ right balance - was it different pickups left and right? Both nice sounding.
-
I think you forgot to turn the gain up, too, Brow. ;)
I kid ...
Anyway, the guitar sound is actually quite nice and lifelike!
How about some lead work over that as another clip with some more gain on it?

I didn't the first time but I did just hten...
I was starting to change my mind about wether to get a set of Black Dog's or maybe something else, but that was a nice clean tone on that track, swayed my decision back the right way.
I think TO is right though, you should do another guitar track.
Did you do the drums with your mouse pointing and clicking? that was pretty good sounding too, when I program drums they sound way too robotic.

Thanx for the posts guys :)

The guitar was a Gordon Smith Graduate60 Les Paul clone with a Black Dog in the bridge and a Riff Raff in the neck.

The clean Black Dog is panned 40% to the left speaker and the neck Riff Raff was panned 40% to the right speaker.

I was quite happy with the clean guitar tone on the clip, but the overdriven tone sucked imo! I'm thinking about doing another clip ina similar fashion, but using a G2D Custom OD for drive instead of my modded Tubescreamer. It has a 'smoother' sound to it than the Tubescreamer.
As for the suggestion of a 'lead' clip, you know I suck at lead stuff mate! I wouldn't want to embaress myself by forcing you guys to listen to me trying to play a solo

I'm glad you liked the sound of the pickups mate and that you came to a decision about pickups :)
As for the drum programming, I did it in Reason 3.0 using a 'custom' drum kit that I pieced together from my favourite drum sample sounds within the program. It was all done by pointing and clicking and then copy/pasting the different sections together :)

Nice work Brow and, as always, thanks to you and everyone who's religously posting clips...........it's fantastic as we're all getting to hear the pickups in a myriad of different guitars, applications etc which is as 'objective' as it gets!
The Black Dog humbuckers are an interesting set, the tone is typically British in that it's darker and mid orientated, the overall effect being of a hot PAF.I offset the coils everso slightly to keep a nice bite but not so much that it hollows out the mids at all.

Sorry to hijack, but a quick question...
Would the Black Dog set work well with the Jimmy Page wiring? (I know they are called Black Dogs for a reason, but how do they sound split/out of phase/parallel?, The mis-matched coils could give some nice results on splits...

Thanx for the comments Tim :)
I know the playings not all that good, but it was only me testing out that my recording setup worked :D
When I (finally) get my Crawler/IT/IT ordered I'll be sure to record a few clips of those too :D

I have coil taps on both pickups on my GSG and both the Black Dog and Riff Raff (imo) sound really nice when split.
I could record a clip for you if you're interested?
