This question may be incredibly difficult to answer, maybe not.
I was listening the radio in the car a while back and there was an article about a guitarist. He was talking, sounded young. There was talk about Jimmy Page (I think) acting as his mentor, promoting him or some such. Unfortunately I didn't pay a great deal of attention, until he started playing, and then it was incredible. Really fast, but interesting and off the wall...
Suffice it to say, I didn't catch his name.
Anyone have any ideas?
Mark.

These parts make me think of the late Shawn Lane, but the Jimmy Page connection doesn't seem to match.

Yeah, I know! Not a great deal to go on...
It was frustrating, 'cos I was in the car and couldn't check on line to see who it was, then I forgot all about it...
Don't think it was Shawn Lane, definitely a youngish guy, probably in hiw twenties.
(and I may have been mistaken about Page... it could have been Beck...)

Sorry Mr Bump, I saw the chance for a cheap shot  and took it  .

If I hadn't asked such a riddiculous question I'd have taken offence.

What about the accent? British? American? Other?

Damn! Obvious information...
British, definitely, a young-ish man.
The playing wasn't heavy, I'd say ALMOST Eric Johnson-ish, but more off the wall and maybe a little more aggressive...

What region?
It could have been Neil Brockelbank.

The only British guitarists regularly chatting on the scene and such that I know of are people like Guthrie Govan, Shaun Baxter, and Phil Hilborne.
But I wouldn't call any of them particularly young - Guthrie is about 30 I guess.

Matt Schofield maybe? Aynsley Lister? They're a bit more on the bluesy side, and I don't know about any Page/Beck connections.

I was about to say Aynsley Lister actually =)

Slightly sideways question, but what station was it on? They might have a listen again facility, or some information on their website?

Radio 4, I believe, although that could also be wrong... It was a couple of years ago, I think, on a drive down to Cornwall on holiday.

That's quite a memory.

Yup, but I can't remember what I had to eat yesterday...
