Title: PG Blues Set good for Led Zepplin 'The Ocean' tone?(HUNTER?)
Post by: aruntang on April 21, 2008, 05:49:25 AM
Hi everyone,  I am wondering if the PG Blues set would be able to cop the in between tone that Page gets on 'The Ocean'?

I am not so much trying to copy Page or Green, but would like to get a set that can have a great out of phase middle position.
Any help would be appreciated!

Can anybody help me out?  I know the PG blues set has a great in between tone, but I am wondering whether it would be able to cop some Page tones?

Welcome. I think that the forum members best equipped to answer this question might not have seen it (Hunter and PhilKing -- I know Phil is traveling now and probably won't see this thread at all).

However, I'll throw my 2 cents in and say yes, the Stormy Monday, PG Blues, and Black Dog will all do this tone with no problem.

Hi!  I've got a set of PG Blues in a Les Paul and they sound great for Led Zep type tones.  I would certainly recommend them  :)

Hey there, sorry for being late. I don't have PG Blues or Mules, but from my experience with Vintage style BKPs, they all do a farely good Led Zeppelin. Just not too much gain and bass and you get there.

I was really struggling get the stock seymour duncans in my Edwards to get close, but VHII, BlackDog, even the RYs could cope quite well with The Ocean.

I'm sure the Stormies or Mules / PG Blues are dead on too.
