Title: Grounding problem? (buzzing noise)
Post by: Transcend on April 30, 2008, 12:10:07 PM
i have switched the miracle man from my agile into my vintage (and i must say it sounds awesome)

but there is a buzzing sound which gets greater if i touch the pickup.

however it doesnt happen if i touch the floyd or any of the controls or the input jack.

Is this a grounding problem? if so what is the best way to solve this?

i have the red wire hooked up to the pickup selector and the black & left the other two (black & green i think) taped together and the bare and other wire are connected together to the back of the tone pot.

You want:

red to selector
black and bare to back of a pot
green and white taped together not attached to anything

Is that what you've got?

Red to selector, leave green & white taped together and black and bare to back of volume or tone pot (as long as there is a ground wire to the tone too.  It is possible you have a ground loop if there are other grounds connecting.  it is better to take all the grounds to one spot to prevent this.

yeah thats what i have.

my only other ground is from the floyd to the pickup selector which is how it was wired before.

so should i move the one from the pickup selector to the pot then?
