So I was thinking last night about how to thicken my tone then I realised I have TWO JCM800's so I hooked them up in stereo. I turned them on, set the volumes and started my usual practice. The tone was huge!!
On the left was an original JCM800 100w going into 2 goldbacks and on the right was a new JCM800KK going into 2 century vintage speakers.
The old JCM covered the higher mids and the KK was more focused on the low mids and bass. This combined to give a really thick tone that was just sonic bliss.
Running in stereo is weird though cos it doesn't sound like two amps until you turn one off!!

I used to do something similar with my JCM800 & EL34 100/100.
If you want to thicken the tone, you can run into a BOSS PS-5 and set it for "Detune". This will sound pretty close to having 2 guitar players playing at the same time, especially if you set the amps for differing, complementary, EQs.

Just one JCM800 sounds huge enough, but two is beyond awesome.

nice one woogie!

Could even use a Stereo Chorus and split the signal to the two heads. kinda like what Zakk Wylde does but not use alot of chorus like he does.

Sounds very cool. Double the fun to play, but half the fun to transport !

Nice one. You're making me want a second cab to try it out
-
I used to run a 50w Silver Jubilee head and a 100w Fender Tonemaster through a 2x12 Tonemaster cab - it was an ungodly tone.
Why oh why did I get rid of those amps, 'specially the Jube (bearing in the mind the tonemaster is no slouch)
-
Are you gonna keep both amps then or not?

Selling all my amps :)

Selling all my amps :)
Fooorrrr....
:P

Taking offers :o
You know you want to buy one Joe ;)

I was thinking of doing a slimilar thing except with a Mesa Boogie F30 mixed with an orange Rockerverb 30 combo, but it would cost a bloody fortune. I'd imagine the 2 JCM 800's sounded very organic and natural?

I'm heading towards a JCM900 and a JMP 2204 :D
The 900 will have to go soon though, its a shame, it has some good features that I would want on any amp. (pentode / triode, fuses for different power amp sides)

Will, is that the 2204 I mentioned? I only ask cos tomorrow I`m going to go and play the few I told you about.
