Ok, so, I was bored and decided to go on ebay, and I thought "let's search for a Blackmachine, even though i know there won't be one there" an up pops a B2, so I ended up £1400 out of pocket. The one problem with it is that it's got a set of DiMarzios in at the moment.
Anyway, it's got a mahogony body, Sapela top, one piece rosewood neck, and an ebony fingerboard.
I want to get a fairly wide range of sounds from it, I definitely want a good clean sound, but i also want to be able to do some fairly high gain stuff as well - around Dream Theater/Sikth sort of levels.
Any suggestions?

You lucky sod!!!
Good idea buying it before anyone else spotted it by the way! :P
Doug is currently swearing by a set of Painkillers it seems, I think Pin uses a Nailbomb and Cold Sweat, but I'd need to double check that.
I think you'll find most BKPs clean up quite well, not like EMGs etc. Even Warpigs are known for their nice clean sound.

Pics or it doesn't exist! :D

:good:
I think jsut about any BKP will get a good sound in that guitar. How do you like your mids?
-
Nailbombs, possibly ceramic for the bridge, or Painkillers I'd say mate. I'd definitely give Doug himself, and see what his recommendation is though.
Congrats on the Blackmachine mate, and welcome to the club. If you haven't tried one already, you'll be absolutely gobsmacked I'm sure.

I'd get VHIIs I think...
-
When's the Diezel coming? Seems everyone with a Blackmachine must have a diezel too
-
Phone Doug and ask him!
Mine has Miracle Man/Mule set. The MM is a bit harsh unless you have an awesome clean channel on the amp but the Mule is fantastic and warm. I have a 1 piece snakewood neck which emphasizes the bite of the Miracle Man, rosewood would be a bit darker so could work really well.
Can't go wrong with Nailbombs. Or Warpigs (ceramic + alnico set) - they are very clear in a low gain setting.
And 1400 quid? Good gravy! Well worth the money...
-
Seeing as you said sikth: ceramic nailbomb bridge, A5 neck
But the best thing you can do is talk to Tim.
-
I've already got a set of nailbombs in a Maverick, so I was hoping for something different - seems like it's painkillers or warpigs, I'll ask Tim and Doug too though.

I've already had it for a bit, I just wanted to play it for a while before changing anything, but it has exceeded all expectations, which is pretty impressive.
I'll get some pics up asap

Ah, I thought that would be the one - it was on eBay a while back as an auction starting at £2000 or so. Beautiful wood grain on that body! I do love the simple stylings as well, if you saw it from a distance, and didn't know the headstock, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a kit guitar or something.. until you heard the sound it produces. Congrats again dude!

Ceramic Warpig and Cold Sweat - For Modern metal
Nailbomb's - For something a tad more vintage

Yeah, the grain is beautiful, even better in person, but still nowhere near as nice as yours.
Both Tim and Doug say NBs, and I'm not going to argue with them and the majority of people on here, so next step is covers/bobbins. I quite like the idea of the "Nailbomb" cover, what do you guys think?
-
Looks beautiful. Camo covers, definitely. The "Nailbomb" ingrave would be a nice touch too.
-
that is one of the blandest black machines i have seen, but still its a black machine. I kind of like the minimalist look, though.
-
I certainly wouldn't argue with Tim or Doug, and definitely not with BOTH of them!! If they say Nailbombs, you want Nailbombs.
I would personally get plain black covers for that, but then I'm rather conservative when it comes to guitar looks (not counting my current guitar, which doesn't count because I only got it "from a mate because it was cheap"!).

(PS, it's your decision, none of us can *really* make it for you).

Yeah, just what I was thinking, they both know what will work much better than me.
I know it's all down to personal taste in the end, I was just wondering what everyone else thought would look best.
