Been a long time..but think I need to find me a band to join.....lookout Hull!!
-
Yeah, I know what you mean. The last time I played with a group of musos was a cr@p ABBA tribute band a few years back.
AND I HATE ABBA!!!
I'm thinking that a Black Sabbath tribute band might be cool. We'll call ourselves "Slack Blabbath".
-
I think Slack Babbath has already been done, there were ads in Kerrang a few years ago for it :(
I can have a band at the moment, just can't get anywhere without a car, and need to get songs sorted
-
My band is winding up at the end of June, after 8 years of pretty constant weekend gigging. It's a wedding / party band, so there was never a lot of scope for blues/rock type stuff.
I'll take a break and then take a look around for a rock band needing a guitarist in the Glasgow area. It might even give me the excuse to get one of these..

and one of these ....

Yeah, I know what you mean, having been looking around for a band to join for a month or so, i finally got into one yesterday.
-
I'm currently trying to put together a second band with martinw.
It's bloody hard work finding the right people...

Did the '80s hair metal band not work out then?
-
That's the one we're trying to put together!!!!
We need drums and bass...
-
yeah is one prob for me love most music short of doing a Britney cover band...I'm up for most things...
So have to find open minded muso's in Hull....mmmm
-
I've been looking for a decent band for ages. I was in a cover band for a while but it gets so boring after a while, and I cant find anyone into the same kinda stuff to play originals with :( Everyone wants to play bloody modern metal which I have no interest in playing :x
-
Yeah fun original stuff..covers as well...just for the laugh value *S*
Odd mix of synths and traditional instrument....tom..but kinda like it

Downtuned sludgey remakes of 70s disco hits? Sounds like a winner to me
-
*L* how to make abba sound better...hows about downtuned deth metal version
-
Hmmm
I'd love to here a Sabbathised version of Mama Mia - in minor key :D
-
That's the one we're trying to put together!!!!

If i lived in manchester i'd do bass duties for you!

Gosh... never spotted that. Maybe, despite the long hair and leather/denim garb of my past, I AM actually an ABBA fan, not a Sabbath devotee???
So, Slack Babbath is taken... mines subtly different. Blabbath. Not Babbath. It's a very important difference.
Please don't shatter my dreams...
On a serious note, has anyone used http://bandmix.co.uk/? I've got a profile up there, and it's a good way of browsing musios in your area. Still a struggle to find the time though... and I haven't played SERIOUSLY with any other musicians for years...

ye can't have Black Sandwich either.

I've used it and to be honest I didn't like it as they make you pay for anything that would help you find anyone. They also send me emails about totally inappropriate bands and musicians for me to be with  .
I'd recommend http://www.partysounds.co.uk as they are free and you can generally get a response.
http://www.musofinder.co.uk is also OK but they want you to pay for it.

So have to find open minded muso's in Hull....mmmm
try looking on myspace for Life Burns records or promotions, cant think of the url rihgt now but htey know loads of people in hull.
dont sign anything with them though, theyre quite incompetant at being a label.
-
*L* was a slight joke about Hull..I do like the place...is more for me am out of the "music scene", so is getting in right places to meet right people for a band
-
Partysounds is certainly the best one for the Manchester area...

Another vote for Partysounds. Does the business down south too.
A big attraction of the site is that it's free.
