Thought I would put a couple of beter pix of this guitar up
It is made from a 30+ year old plank of Brazillian mahogany that had belonged to a cabinet maker who retired and had no further use for his old stock.
It is somewhat heavy but has a great sound
Currently we have a pair of Mules in itbut I am toying with changing the bridge for an Emerald as it is just a bit bright and the extra "Oomph" from the Emerald will ease that a bit (or swap the volume pot for a 300K version)
As ever it features the all access neck joint and an Earvana nut.
The knobs are unusual Ivoroid ones with a rubber grip strip- I kind of liked them but opinions are a bit divided on them.
They could easily be chnged in under a minute so no big deal

That looks gorgeous. I particularly like the contoured heel. It looks really comfy :D
-
Quite like it but zebra pickups, don't like them with mounting rigs...
Looks awesome job!
:D

agreed, the pickup rings are a bit too conspicuous, sure looks good though
-
I bet that plays beautifully. Nice work again Jonathan!
-
Great guitar. I think that's the finish I'd go for (gold pups though...)
-
Beautiful. I especially like the binding around the body. I have a preference for covered pickups (not that I have a h/b equipped guitar) but that is a fantastic piece of wood and the resultant guitar looks the business.
-
That's quite an impressive piece of craft. Really nice:)
I guess some experiment with all black, all white pups and black or white ring pup could fine tune the aesthetic scheme but that is really to be picky.
-
Lovely!
Really like that neck join! :X
-
i really like the finish on the back - bursted necks always appeal for some reason
-
That does look really sweet to me - dont mind the pickup rings at all, match the binding well, and definitely agree with that contoured heel..looks like it would play like a dream!
-
pretty is this for another forumite?

I was sleepy and have not told exactly what I thought:
It's very nice build!
Can't see the line between the body and neck :?

this turned out very well, you must be pretty proud!
-
Very tasty, it has a touch of Zemaitis about it.
I think you chose a great finish for that model, it looks really nice.
My only criticism is that I'm one of those people who finds Earvana retrofit nuts a bit too agricultural in appearance, I think the one piece versions look neater.
-
This guitar isn't for anyone and is available for sale
The small details could easily be changed to suit a buyer
-
Great guitar. I think that's the finish I'd go for (gold pups though...)
Are you in the market for a gold VHII neck or Nailbomb bridge?
-
That looks awesome!
-
I really like LP and SG juniors. Good job!!

Nah! CHeck out my "£80 To Spend" thread earlier!
I'm perpetually skint.
Mark.

When I saw that guitar in Feline's "On The Bench" page, I wasn't too sure if the binding suited the Junior vibe - but finished, with the zebra pickups (and cream mounting rings) it looks awesome!
>Urp!<
Was that a touch of GAS?

I am updating both the On The Bench and Recently finished pages this weekend - probably get the pix uploaded tonight (Sunday ) or Monday

Many thanks to Afghan Dave for helping with some great site restructuring (including lots of stuff that is not visible - just under the hood stuff that is very important).
I intend to expand the Online Shop section to show a lot of the goodies that we might have that you might not realise
We are also developing a "Rants and Tech Talk" page (which wont be quite as vociferous as Ed Roman's one but will still be a soapbox for certain issues and explaining techy stuff)
-
very nice... might be cooler with p90s though!
awesome bursting on the neck, as wez said. :)

Agree with you big time!
I shall have to say it again: thank god that has a small neck! Even my girlfriend think it looks great. (and told me to get it!! :o )
-
Looks superb!!

I have updated the Gallery section of my site a bit tonight and there are a lot of pix of my guitars that you may not have ever seen before (many predate BKPs existing at all - let alone this forum!
I havent yet done individual pages for each guitar (although I intend to if possible)
Do have a look if interested (Two sample pix below)

Being my favourite, for the beauty of the top wood alone.
I shall be getting in touch with you soon about a complete overhaul for my Kramer. :)

nice work

WAY too awesome - Loving the update Jonathan.

I really really like the junior! It looks amazing!
What makes it a junior though?
-
It's a Junior becuase it has a slab body - no carved maple top.....

:o :crazy2: :na: Hubba hubba :aww: Gazoooooogah!
*cough* And quite terrific I might add.

I suppose since it has 2 pickups it should strictly be a Special - but I much prefer Junior, it conveys what nice simple, stripped-down guitars they are.
And other manufacturers have probably used "Special" for different types of guitars, so it's a more generic term.

I think that's the first Feline I don't actually like....... Still nothing that a swap of pups and paint job wouldn't sort out (and making it the right way round, left handed guitars always look a bit odd to me). I'm trying to forget the 80's but that doesn't help
That Tele might get humpped if it comes anywhere near me though
-
I love all the Lions.
Still love the Tigers the best though. :D
You're building up quite the cat family zoo in there Jonathan. Awesome stuff. :)
-
I love all the Lions.
Still love the Tigers the best though. :D
Thinking about it, maybe the Junior should be called a Lion Cub.
That was going to be a joke, but I think it actually sounds good.... so I've turned it into a serious suggestion.

This should have been Becker's sig model ;P
hmmm Jonathan I want to try some of your Feline strings, do you still have my card details? If you do send me a pack of 10-52 please
-
The Lion Jr/Lion Cub as philly calls it looks really good, with some black speed knobs it'd be even better I reckon :) I really want one of your guitars but cant afford any :(
That tele looks GREAT as well :D

Excellent, I'm honoured!! :D :D :D
I haven't felt this close to fame since they had my story on Jackanory in 1979....
Now if I buy a Feline it'll have to be a Lion Cub!

It was loosely based on a few ideas
The numbers were definitely from the Peavey he had with the stick on numbers
Except I did them in alternating red and green abalone
That job alone was so painstaking that it nearly drove me crazy
But that was 10 years ago - so I have just about recovered!
Here is a close up:

First rule of Lion Cub is that you dont talk about Lion Cub!
That rule doesnt work well as a marketing campign though!
-
Haha, that's excellent. I can see you also have a Tiger Cub.

If it's your first time at Tiger Cub then you must fight
-
Going down this route, you'd need to make a model called Robert Paulson so whenever anyone asks you what guitar you have, you can say "HIS NAME IS ROBERT PAULSON!"
-
Those quotes are so good! As a video log of one of the leavers classes; they have a story line, except it is Chess Club
Stop making me look and think of this guitar! I had a dream about putting gold reflector knobs on it :? It has made me warm to the current ones.
-
It must be love, will!

Looks even better with gold knobs! Hopefully you dont mind me having a mess around in photoshop with it seeing what different things look like jonathan, if you do let me know and I'll get rid of the image in my post :)
-
For what it's worth, I really like those ivoroid knobs. Thinking of how they'd look on my LP..
