Title: REBEL YELLS! / Spankin' Metal!
Post by: Frederick Russ on May 12, 2008, 02:07:38 AM
Hi All,

Here is a piece I've been working on in the metal genre. Thanks Jason at Peerlesstone.com for ordering and importing these - and also a big thanks to Tim at Bare Knuckle Pickups for carefully winding these for maximum tone.

Let me know what you think, thanks!

Best,

Fred

Very nice PDT_015 .

Only gripe is that the lead guitar feels a bit too low in the mix but in the context of a song that mixing would be fine I'd think (for the main verse sections that would be good but if you wanted a solo such as that one I'd be tempted to increase the volume of the lead guitar a little more to make it jump out more.).

I think a short delay on the lead guitar would really make it jump out more! and slightly less compression. delay times from 30-100ms will be good, and high pass filters on the guitar tracks at 150Hz. dam I'm a geek!

more like "REBEL HELLS YES"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Sick stuff man!

EDIT: i agree with raising the lead a bit in the mix and maybe pump the rhythm with a touch more bass

Thanks for listens and especially the mix suggestions guys! I'll post an different mix based on your comments in a day or so. Definitely will try that JJretroTONEGOD.

I've got Rebel Yells in a Les Paul running through Fractal Audio Axe FX. The setting is for a normal recto amp stage and is running direct into the board
