Title: Schecter A-7 (I'm a tard)
Post by: The Hiryuu on May 12, 2008, 01:52:28 PM
I accidentally posted this in the LTD 7-string thread. Whoops.

Truth be told, I forget what body wood it has, I think I've heard mahogany, wouldn't be surprised if it was basswood, though...every other guitar I have seems to be. I don't have THAT big of a problem with the stock pickups' general tone, but I'd like the sound to be a lot tighter than it is. I really probably SHOULD be asking about my Ibanez RG7620, but I just plain like the Schecter better.

I play metal (big surprise), mostly death metal as of late (Found myself ripping off of Necrophagist, Morbid Angel, and Nocturnus quite a bit lately...hahaha), but I go kind of all over the place in general. Got a Mesa/Boogie Mark IV combo. I always have my 7-strings tuned down at least 1/2 step...occasionally as much as 2 steps.

Enough background info? :guitar4:

For the really low stuff, you might be looking at a Painkiller bridge pup to get the clarity you're after. A miracle man will probably suit you very well (I have one in an Ibanez RG470F/TBL, downtuned to A-E-A-D-F#-B). A ceramic warpig might also be tight enough, though *possibly* less tight than the above two (but don't take my word for it, as the only one I own so far is the miracle man, with which I am very happy, by the way!).

Hope this helps, and even if it does: Ask Tim!
