posting this from a phone. ooo.
just want to check that red wire is negative and black is positive?
wiring up a cab and its been a long time since I've done this. :D

Call the bomb squad!

I believe thats the correct way around.
I'd do a quick google check first though
-
Hmm, don't know about the cab context, but my memory just tells me that black is negative. The only way I remember it is because black is technically a negative colour. Probably just thinking batteries though

Black - Neg
Red - Pos

My mates just rewired mine with bright pink wire all round. Git

I thought it was red = positive too.
I'm wiring up a 1960A cab with the stereo/mono thing.
Now i gotta figure out if it matters which one i use on it! only going to one speaker at the moment too.
ToneMonkey - if its belkin wire like i had before, it's really good stuff! if a little pink looking...

Pretty sure red is positive, thats how I've always had my speakers wired up anyway.
-
I was always taught red = hot, black = not. As long as you wire the tip terminal of the jack socket to the positive terminal of the speakers you should be pretty safe though :)
