£450.. for a 1969 Marshall Super Bass.
If that isn't the deal of the century! what is?!

pics..

Sounds pretty cheap to me - too cheap?
You sure it's not full of Chinese parts? ;)
-
shite, where do you get deals like this. You ALWAYS seem to have a beautiful Marshall.
Do you still have the 4 input style JCM, 20w plexi, and a MV JMP ? or sell them on?
-
Twinfan, it's all correct and it's not a fake! I bought it from a good friend of mine.
I know my Marshalls and I'll tell u now it's only had a few minor things changed.
Input jack sockets replaced, tube sockets replaced, electrolytic caps replaced, and the 68k input resistors are not original although they're carbon comp replacements..
Everything else is original, trannies, pots, philips mustard caps.
-
I'll give youy £500 for it, £50 straight profit not bad is it???
Where's the obligatory gut shot?? Let's see some mustards
-
I don't have the 4 input JCM800 anymore, i'd been too heavily modded for my liking, master volume mod, no tolex and it had noise issues.
The 20w Plexi had just gone today, But I think i'll be keeping this bad boy!

gut shots!!!

Nice!
I find Super Basses a bit too dark for my tastes, certainly for Angus tones I need more bite. Easily fixed though with a couple of minor changes ;)
You robbed your mate by the way....

Superb amp, and an even better deal ! As Twinfan said, your friend was robbed !
Anyway, how do I go about getting friends like that ?
-
Deals on gear just seem to happen to me haha..
Don't think i've got the desire for anything else now.. I mean.. this is it really isn't it? when it comes to amps? whats better?
a Plexi 1959 from 1968 in mint condition.. thats about it.

im so jealous. its a beauty.

I've been over the amp inch by inch with a good tech friend of mine, and we've found a few small inconsistancies but over all it's very much stock.
Inconsistances:
The Mixer cap is a Philips Mustard 1000pf instead of Lemco 500pf
V1 is wired to Split Cathode rather than Shared
And the input resistors were 56k rather than 68k
I put the input resistors back to 68k with some good old Carbon Comp resistors.
And V1 is now wired back to Shared Cathode, sounds MUCH fatter!
And im on the hunt for a Lemco 500pf cap!
But all in all, what a killer amp! We may also think the Output Transformer is a replacement, although an original it's not the original one if u catch my drift?
