London power studio

or
VHT Sig:x + matching cab
http://www.vhtamp.com/
NO EFFECTS NEEDED!
-
I'll just put what I'd change about my current rig.
I'd like to have another seven 1X12" cabs so I could have the power of a full stack but it would be modular and easier to load into a van. I would put these in a sort of pyramid shape.
A head that's like my Tiny Terror only larger. Possibly a 50-watt. The Orange OR-50 might be my best bet there.
I wouldn't mind having a delay pedal and a slide (had a slide but it got lost/stolen at school a while back).
-
Out of interest, why a Boss NS-2 when you could get an ISP Decimator ProRackG? I love mine so much! :)
Roo
-
Whats the difference between an ISP Decimator and an ISP Decimator G String? Is the G String easy to use?
-

Bloody Murder Overdrive
TC Electronic G System
Some fancy noise surpressor.

I'd want another Martamp 4x12 (see my avatar) with Hot 100s and an RC Booster for my pedalboard. Monster rock rig would then be:
Amp/cabs
Martamp M45/100 head
Martamp 4x12 with Heritage G12s and V30s
Martamp 4x12 with Hot 100s
Pedalboard
Korg Tuner
Maxon OD-9
BB Preamp
RC Booster
EVH Phaser
MXR Stereo Chorus
Ibanez AD-9

Jackson Dinky with VHIIs, PRS Mira etc
Ooooooooh, the tone!

JMP 100w master volume in white
JMP 100w Non master volume

That would do I think 8)
-
erm...love home rig(although am after a matamp or a martamp)
Amps cabs
Original Hiwatt 50w valve head(not tried new ones)
or a Martamp jtm45
and a Fender Prosonic(would be great for live..way to loud home)
Martamp 4x12..think similar to Twinfan like mix g12h and v30's
Guitars
Feline lion
then after that my own pedals and a fancy noise suppressor
-
Duesenberg Starplayer TV no tremolo into an old tweed Fender Bassman 4x10 and a JCM800 2x12, with a place to crank it. 8)

Nice...have not tried one yet on purpose....because if I like will have to buy
-
Apart from a rack case, rack tuner, power conditioner and a MIDI pedal looper, I already have it :D
I wouldn't mind a Randall MTS series amp though (recording whore that I am, I want options for everyone :)), but everything in my rig is amazing
-
Rigwise I'd like to add:
Ceriatone 18w TMB with cascade switch
Boutique booster of some sort
Vintage G12H30 cab - 2 or 4x12
Scumback for my 1x12
However I'm pretty happy with what I have at the moment, none of there things are priority.

I actually have much of my dream rig, but here goes :)
Parts of my "Dream Rig" that I already have:
Lehle 3@1
Morley Bad Horsie Wah
MXR M134 Chorus
Dunlop DC Brick
Engl Savage 120
TC Electronic G-Major
BBE 482
Korg DTR2000
Spectraflex cables
Parts of my "Dream Rig" that I don't yet have:
Engl Z7 Midi Interface & Z12 MIDI footboard (would prefer them to the Z10 so I could switch midi FX patches at the same time)
A Pedal board to mount the pedals & footboard onto
4x12" cab. Something with Vintage 30s like a Mesa, Diezel, H&K VC412B30 or the Engl E412VG.
SKB 4U Rack case (only have a 3U atm, so the DTR2000 sits on top like a spare part...)
Rocktron Xpression or an Intellifex if I could find one in good condition (as a possible alternative to the G-Major which sounds great but I don't find particularly user friendly)
Other stuff that I'd like to have (not strictly part of the same rig):
Hughes & Kettner Triamp MKII head (for different sounds in the studio :)
4x12" cab with 2 Classic Lead 80s & 2 others (either G12T75s of K100s)
-
My dream rig wouldn't really cost a fortune, seen as I'd rather spend my time practicing than work extra hours to afford the gear I want, but don't really need. So it'd be something like this:
Home rig:
Guitar -> morley wah -> t-rex alberta -> blackstar ht dual (or whatever distortion preamp I may like) -> delay unit (haven't decided) -> low wattage single channel tube amp, got my eyes on a Carvin Vintage 16.
Stage rig:
Same stuff but going into a Carvin X-100B with the delay in the fx loop. I have an irrational affection for those amps.
My dream guitar would be a sevenstring LP-DC that I'll probably end up making myself at some point.
-
Dream Rig:
Amps:
Cornford MK50
Engl SE (6l6)
Diezel Vh4s
Bogner Shiva
Soldano SLO100
Guitars:
Caparison TAT-II
Dean Hardtail
ESP Horizon (owned)
ESP Viper (owned)
Ibanez RG Jigsaw Top.
Effects:
TC G System
Morley Bad Horsie (owned)
BBE Sonic Maximizer (owned)
Keeley Compressor
Electro Harmonix Small Stone

i dont really know what i want in the amp, speaker or pickup department. I play a fair range of things. But so far heres what i have worked out:
AMPS:
homebrewed bassman copy. 60-130 watts depending whether i use a pair 6550's in ultralinear or a pair of 6146b's in pentode.
This will be my surf/indie/rockabilly/blues/stoner/doom amp. Will also double as a bass amp.
Ampeg vh/ss 140-c.
This will be for metal, and surfer. The clean channel on this thing is something else.
6x12 with some speakers of some sort.
a 4x12 with speakers of some sort... probably greenbacks
a 2x12 with eminence v12 legends
some sort of bass cabinet =/
GUITARS:
My white bcrich mockingbird
custom Ran mockingbird 9 string (high strings doubled like a 12) black-red-yellow burst
red yamaha SA503 TVL. Need a semi acoustic, this one fits the bill for price and playability :)
fender jazzmaster
PEDALS:
sanford and sonny bluebeard fuzz
maxon od 808 (or some other boost)
EHX deluxe memory man w/hazarai
a nice tremolo of some sort
a nice wah of some sort (maybe)
maybe a chorus
-
Probably something like:
Guitars
Edwards LP Custom w/Crawlers or some other medium gain thing. Black covers 8)
Edwards LP Standard honeyburst w/Mules
Something with p90s, probably an SG or similar
Duesenberg Starplayer TV in vintage white
would probably have to have a superstrat with floyd just for the novelty
A nice playing strat of some kind.
Amps
A good JCM800 w/G12H cab
GH50L for other high gain stuff
Vox AC30
I'm not too fussed about pedals, so long as I have a decent wah, tuner and tubescreamer type pedal I'm fine :)
-
I wouldn't ask for much....
just an original '52 tele and a '52 bassman.
....and length of George L's
-
Well, hmmm.
Guitars:
-Gibson XR 1  I want it back from repair ASAP! It has a huge character about it in my playing that I am sorely missing, and is harder to play, so fingers are getting weaker :(
-White Lion w/ RY pretty much a LP custom look, but cream P'up rings
-LP standard type, very light flame that is more natural than consistant across the top, probably a 58 RI for the resale value
-Firebird w/ something vintagey, maybe a mini mule type rewind
Maybe a black LP Custom thing with a Kahler too
Amps:
- Martamp 45 with power scaling would give a nice clean I would imagine
- Plexi type thing, maybe an old Marshall, or Metro
- Would like a Greenback cab, but I am lost as to which I would prefer, G12H30, G12M25, G12M20 etc
Something to contrast to my Sidewinders, and with a more vintage flavour. I struggle to get a Zep type sound out of them.

Well, in the current political climate, we can't be too careful about being sexist, racist, homophobic, or generally abusive. EDIT SO I CHOPPED THIS NEXT BIT OUT
-
Roo... teles are great... so much so i am tempted to do a fanned fret baritone tele to prove a point!!! You would like it!!!!
i like quirky old guitars and for me teles always represent the perfect middle ground between the modern stuff i build and the quirky old stuff i would play if i could play
ideal rig for me would involve a 58 es335, and a very early fender bassman.... although philkings 62 bravewood has opened me up to the possibility that i might quitle like strats.......... if they are well made!!!
-
Dream rig, hmm:
Amps
Bogner Shiva
Orange Thunderverb
Mango 30
Effects
Box of Rock
nice wah/delay
Guitars
Caparison Horus
PRS Modern Eagle
headless gibson les paul, now that's what i'm talking 'bout! Just thought of it :P
every set of BKP
-
mmmm drunken messages ftw!
To be fair though, it's because of that horribly rounded and bulbous body (and horn), the horrid headstock, and that nasty metal plate under the bridge pickup. Nasty nasty nasty!
But point taken Wez! ;)
-
I'd love to run with my existing Hiwatt head & matamp cab a martamp 45/100 for the crunch. I've got the maxxon for pushing for a searing lead tone, but I'd love to have one of the RC boosters for clean lead. Also I'd like to get hold of Keeley vox wah with true bypass, my wah's cr@p!
-

Well, in the current political climate, we can't be too careful about being sexist, racist, homophobic, or generally abusive. but DUDE WTF!? A tele, are you a bottom bandit or WHAT!? :)
Good job you managed to avoid being homophobic it your put down!
Tele's are cool man, one of the most versatile guitars ever made. The only style they won't do too good is hardcore chugga chugga, but that's to their credit!!
I suppose you love them or hate them......

yeah, like I said, late night drunken posting = win! (or lose, depending on which way you look at it).
But seriously, they are not "cool". "Cool" is just something they are not. Love them or hate them, fine, I definitely fall into the hate them category (plus I've never seen one being played that didn't make the player look like a ****...).
But I digress... And something tells me that Wez might make me live to regret this... :D
Roo

Roo should be ostracized until he sees the light and realises that teles are gods.
-
Well, I don't know about that - I'll never like them, it's the shape - I just can't like them!
BUT - I will go back and edit my previous posts to remove the offensive parts, because that was pretty wrong of me, and I'm sorry if anyone was offended (not heard anything, but just feel a bit of a **** for saying some of that!)

*L* tele's are an aquired taste, but love mine (although mine is a Feline, so feels better me than any tele i've tried)...took me a long time to find one I liked

Hey, it was late, I wouldn't worry too much. I'd just like to point out that when I said 'a lenght of George L's' I was refering to high quality cable and nothing to do with a man named George!
Well everbody has their opinions, I pretty much like all guitars although more the classic designs, 335, strat, LP, SG etc. But...
refering to my perfect rig as a tele and a bassman, I guess I was being a little 'anti-rig', i.e. a simple combination where you would have to play good to sound good, don't have to worry about loads of pedals and amp setting, just a volume and tone control and your fingers.
You don't think Tele's are cool then. I suppose your more of an Esquire man?
-
as a builder i always see tele's as a blank template to do what i want to. I am building another telecaster soon.... but it wont be standard!!! (although maybe not a fanned fret baritone - will save that for something else)
there are a few really interesting blackmachine tele's out there that show what can be done with the the design
-
I'll hold off answering that question, Tom, just for a few months. Then all will become clear, I hope!
Roo

I don't have high standards when it comes to a rig, just the guitar area. So..
Want:
H&K Switchblade or a Single Rectifier
A 2x12 cab, not so sure what brand.
More Ibanez!
Have:
Ibanez RG08LTD
Ibanez RG280AH
Indie Signature
BOSS GT8
I find myself a simple person :)
-
my dream rig would be as follows:
amps:
Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special ( modded with Celestion V30s)
Marshall 1974x reissue w/greenbacks
Vox AC15 heritige handwired
Fender Super Reverb from the 60s
1970s Fender Vibro Champ
1964 Vox AC30 w/ celestion blues
Mesa Boogie Mark 1 reissue
cabs:
4x12 Orange slanted cab w/Celestion G12M's in it, in orange not black!
Mongotone 4x10 w/celestion G10s in it
For guitars I would have:
a custom made one off specially for me
JJ Retro handmade guitar (already owned)
Fx:
I have all my dream fx pedals already! Keeley Compressor, Keeley Katana Boost, Keeley Fuzz Head, Keeley Looper, MIJ Boss DD3 blue label, Line 6 Liqua Flange, MJM Roctavios, RMC3 Teese wha, with the pedal train 2 HC.
so for me it's mainly amps, I am now saving for either the Vox Heritige AC15 or the Mesa Lonestar Special 2x12, the mesa is my number 1 choice though.
-
May i ask what a compressor does? and why is Keeley's particularly good?
-
May i ask what a compressor does? and why is Keeley's particularly good?
It makes quiter sections louder, think of Dave Gilmour! It squeeses the tone, and makes it sing, very usefull for giving your guitar more sustain, and also making solo's stick out more. There are a lot of uses, for example it's used in almost every country song ever on electric guitar sounds, also in funk music, such as Prince uses it lots. The Keeley Compressor is much more expensive but well worth it, as tonally it is much nicer.
-

- PRS SC250 with wide thin neck
- PRS Custom 24 with wide thin neck

Amp/effects:
- Diezel Herbert + Diezel or Mesa Recto 4x12
- TC Electronics NR1 Nova digital reverb pedal
- Xotic RC Boost pedal
- Dunlop Zakk Wylde Wah (owned)
Blues/light rock/whatever else rig:
Guitars:
- PRS David Grissom Signature
- Fender USA Strat (owned)

Amp/effects:

Plus Planet Waves Tuner for both, and obviously some very high quality cables.
And I've never once been described as hard to please
-
Well, in the current political climate, we can't be too careful about being sexist, racist, homophobic, or generally abusive. EDIT SO I CHOPPED THIS NEXT BIT OUT
That warmed my heart. Thank you. Teles do sound, look, and feel horrible at least to me. I'm glad there's someone out there with the same perception.

^
Oh yes to the Green Matamp!
But I'd have mine with a white panel and the standard straw-coloured cloth, whatever it's called.
(This is entirely based on looks, I've never actually tried a Matamp  )
I don't really have a dream rig, but I think my dream guitar would have to be a custom job. I want a korina LP Junior, singlecut with improved top-fret access and probably a pair of humbuckers.
-
I have the amps i want, I have a full head Starfield id use as my main amp, and i have a seperate preamp/poweramp version which i would use with a rack effects processor and a few more vintage speaker cabs. Its my guitars that need improiving. My SG needs new pickups, I want a Les Paul and a telecaster, then some sort of metal Flying V again... something like a Randy Rhoads or KV2.
sooooo...
