Title: Breakfast
Post by: Jonny on May 28, 2008, 12:41:46 PM
Breakfast: The first and most important meal of the day.

Do you have breakfast?

I always seem to have no time for breakfast. Waking up at 6.45am and out the door before 7.45am.

If you do eat breakfast, what do you have? Bread? Tea? Coffee? Porridge? Orange Juice? Do you go out for breakfast?

It's my day off so I got to unload a bowl of cereal today.

It tastes like marmite :) Marmite and cheese sandwiches are amazing, I might make one soon.

I had boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast today :D

It tastes the same as the devils sweat.

I've never been a breakfast fan as it used to make me feel sick eating at that time of the morning.  Now that I often work from home, I sometimes have a bite to eat about 10am (if there is anything).  However there were some corn flakes this morning which were left over from making corn flake cakes for the bbq last weekend. YAY

i always eat breakfast. don't really feel like eating in the morning, but i'll feel worse from hunger if i don't eat. started eating porridge as i hate kelloggs (and similar) cereals with a vengeance. of course, the amount of sugar i have to put on it to make it edible probably negates any health benefits...

normally eat toast or similar as well... :)

EDIT: never tried marmite...

Depends on the day, usually 6 - 8 weetabix or weetos.

Sausages and bacon, or Marmite on toast at 10 - any earlier and I feel sick.  Luckily I have a job that allows me to pop out when I like.

Some cereals or sometimes when I eat them I get a bad stupid. I think my stomach is selectively lactose intolerant or something, the fussy bugger.

When I have time to eat breakfast, it's usually (rye!) bread, yoghurt and coffee. Cereal from time to time. I really like porridge but usually there's no time for that...

This morning it was leftover chicken salad, coffee and ice cream ;) And now I'm hungry again just thinking about it.

No breakfast - I get chronic indigestion if I eat before 12.

I drove past the Marmite factory (I think it was in Derbyshire) years ago, and the stench was incredible - as if they were collecting all the roadkill for miles around and storing it to make their product...

Still love marmite though...

Bovril anyone?

Mark.

what in God's name takes you an hour in the morning without breakfast factored in?!!

I get up at 6:30 on a London day and get my free breakfast on the bus. Pushing 7am on a Sutton day now (got the drive down pat), and I have to eat then or I'll be dead by elevenses :)

BTW on a London day I'm up at 6:30 and on the bus by 6:50, including shower/sh**/shave time.

Breakfast FTW!

I always, always, always have breakfast.  Always cereal, lots of different types and sometimes I mix them up (All Bran is impossible to eat on its own but it's OK mixed in with some Alpen or Coco Pops - can't beat a bit of extra fibre).

And I'm incredibly fussy about the milk being really cold, so the first thing I do in the morning is stick the milk in the freezer so it's had an hour before I eat.  Many people seem to take this as proof that I am certifiably insane, but it doesn't seem that strange to me.... :|

Oh, and I love Marmite.

I don't usually have to leave my place to go to work until 11:30ish but I still seem to miss breakfast most days. On the few when I do manage to have something it's usually toast with butter and Gentleman's  Relish, assuming I can actually find some decent bread that isn't  full of sugar, and the supermarket hasn't sold out of butter.

I've taken to breakfast in a big way since I started cycling to work, you need something in the old belly to prepare you for the sheer mindless abuse and terror that crossing Belfast by two wheels results in.

On a weekday, then, it's usually four shredded wheat, a banana, cup of coffee and a fag, but at weekends, I tend to go the whole way and have a proper fry. Soda Bread, purty bread, pancake, bacon, beef sausage, pork and leek sausage, veg roll, black pudding, white pudding, mushrooms, and a dirty great mug of tea, followed by two bensons and collapsing on the living room floor for an hour. It's a good appetiser for a day on the stout.

I can't function without a cup of tea first thing (& preferably two).

Usually I eat something too - how much milk we have left & how much of a hurry I'm in determines whether it's cereal, toast, fruit, something cooked, cold meat, or a few biscuits dunked in my tea...

No I mean with real oats, still warm of course.

I always make sure I always have breakfeast anyway.

Tea is most important for me. Lately I have been too stressed to eat in the morning ( just relocated to a  new office where I really do not want to be) but I was always fond of poached egg on toast.

I agree with what everyone says about tea.  I ALWAYS have a cup of tea in the morning unless I've overslept.  Well I say I have a cup of tea, I have as much as I can possibly drink until I have to go out.

Been back in the office for about an hour now and I'm on my third cup of coffee (well finished it, might go for my fourth).  My tea mug at home holds about a pint and a half  :D

i have to eat or i quickly feel sick and can't function.

i eat a hearty breakfast usually, with hopefully some sweet things for the sugar kick:

alpen sugar free musli (to which i add salt)
chocolate
fresh gerkhins
carrots
fruit juice
cheese
yogurt
croissant
pain au chocolat

that sort of thing

Agh! I hate this thread, it makes me want to eat lots of stuff, and an attempt at dieting doesn't mix well with this.
Today was a cup of tea, other times maybe weetabix too, during my days at school, I would wake up and be out the door in about 10-15 mins, and in the gap of about half an hour between bus arriving and school beginning would either have a Tesco sani, croissant (croy - sant :D ), or something similar.
When there was a big cr@p assembly coming along, the brekkie restaurant part of Tesco usually would take the same amount of time as assembly

I had a mighty breakfast this morning purely because I managed to find tattie scones AND lorne sausage in an English shop yesterday.

Bacon, a two poached eggs, french toast, 4 tattie scones, a lorne sausage, two link sausages, beans and normal toast. It was wonderful.

Incidentally, you can't actually have a breakfast without tattie scones, it might be a breakfast shaped object, but nothing more.

Easy, I love waking up early, the morning is cool and peaceful. I set my alarm and just get up. I usually wake up right before my alarm goes off, which is slightly strange.

on a weekend I rarely have breakfast, but when I do I go to town - the works.

during the week, I'd say it's a 50/50.  I had duck pate and toast for breakfast this morning, but yesterday it was Jordans muslei.  One time last week I got up early and did a mushroom omelette.

I always have coffee in the morning (I'm so addicted!) and then if I got time, bran flakes, keep my fibre level up, most people don't get enough fibre

I limit my coffee to 2 or 3 cups a day, and I won't have it after 1pm because caffeine stays in your system for 10 hours so I want to get rid of it before I go to sleep

tomorrow I might have a scotch egg for breakfast... if I haven't eaten it before bed

+1. I get paid 4 quid for waking up early and going out for a ride for 30 mins with a few papers.

And that alarm thing happens to me also. :?

You a paperboy?

I used to have a paper round and I was always late.  I've always been really bad at getting up in the moring.  In fact, I can't be held responsible for my actions before I finish my first up of tea in the morning. Kind of like a bear coming out of hibernation.

Slightly delayed but can I point out that Marmite is not made from roadkill, or any other animal - it is made from the by product of beer production - its like you have 10 pints at night and then the yeast from 10 pints in the morning.

Mon, Tue and some Thursdays, I'll wake up at 5am, hook into a couple of weet-bix, a large home made fruit smoothy, do some ab exercises, then cycle off to uni at 6am.
The other weekdays, exact same thing, but +1 hour.

I cannot miss breakfast.

Oh, and Vegemite >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Marmite.

2 coffees in the morning will still be in your system by bedtime
Just think of the positive effects a cup of coffee has, versus the minor sleep quality problem it causes, and just remember that none of us are really 100% certain why we need sleep, so why get bent out of shape about minimal caffeine levels affecting EEG readings that no one understands anyway?

Hey!
It's very hard to me to tell what i usually eat, in some areas my english knowleadge is zero...

I like to eat a sandwich from brazil called "hot mix" that is a "French bread" with ham and cheese, usually Mozzarella and it's hot, as the name says...
but I'm trying to eat something more "light" like a sandwich of smoked Peru's cheast (the bird the we eat in the Christmas, is it the same name??) with "white cheese" that is a cheese with little fatness...

The hell is that I didn't see anything of it in England... :?
Do you have there French Bread?
