It's just happened to me. No reason - it just happened. I was sat there playing my strat for a good hour and decided to plug my tele in. I felt nothing. NOTHING. This has never happened to me before. Is there a cure for it or is this a sign that it is now time to move on? I have always fancied a PRS or custom build!

NO.
Don't sell it.
Due to recent discussion of your Tele I think that is why, but don't sell it!

I have days like that all the time - days when a guitar will suddenly sound shitee for no apparent reason, days when fat guitars suddenly sound thin or won't sustain, days when my fingers seem even more clumsy than usual. It just happens.
Give it a chance. Put the Tele away for a bit. It'll probably sound great again next time you pick it up.

It's been locked in it's case for bad behaviour - I think hiding it away helps you figure out if you will miss it when/if it's gone. It sounded terribly thin and lifeless - maybe it's just me having a bad day.

Cheers Jonny - I think it's more to do with it sounding bad (truly bad) today and also my guitar tutor having two awesome PRSs!!

Haha - I think I can guess what he's going to say. Roobubba - if you're listening, there is no way I am going to exchange it for a pointy death machine!

Keep it!
Generally, I think the day someone offers you money for a guitar and you seriously think about it, it's too early to sell.
And tell your guitar teacher to buy a proper man's guitar!
Says he with two Parker Flys...

I think you need to sell that Tele and give Drac a call..

Oh don't worry, you're just getting Taste. It can be a bit of a surprise sometimes, I know it was to me when I stopped liking strats and teles. I was 14 when that happened, but hey I was slow to learn. Time to move out of the "look at me, I'm Keith Richards!"-phase and get serious tone.

I have that problem all the time, but now i'm falling out of even the music i've mostly listened to for a long time, falling out with guitars and playing them, it's all very strange.
BUT
I have madly fallen in love with motorbikes and planning my bike trip to italy next year :D
So maybe it's just the universal balance thing taking effect, that and im getting no where with bands etc, might as well do something fun!
If anyone wants to put a Suzuki Invader or Honda Shadow in the seconds out, i'd snap it up ;)

Yeah, those guys like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Robin Trower, James Burton, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen... when will they ever learn, eh?
And tragically some - Rory Gallagher, Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly - never even got the chance to realise the errors of their ways....
-
Funnily enough, I had a "bad-tele" day a couple of days ago as well...
I deliberately concentrated on the tele last night - and found out that the changeable weather seems to have affected the neck relief and intonation more than the other guitars (I still hadn't managed to set it up to my complete satisfaction anyway, so that contributes, I think...)
Anyway, after an hour's noodling and fiddling, some of the joy returned - but I'm still more in love with the other girls. She's ok for a "quick one", but my strat (and increasingly my explorer) are the long-term relationships.

/me remains silent. Smug, but silent.

Every day I weep for them.
