I just downloaded the demo of Addictive Drums to try. First impressions are that it doesnt sound as nice as EZ Drummer, its really dull and odd. Its really tweakable (inbuilt eq, compressor etc for each part of the kit) so you can probably get some better sounds out of it if you try. I think I'll stick with EZDrummer though, it sounds much cleaner/less compressed if you get what I mean? The kicks sound better in Addictive Drums though.

Its AD first then EZD
:)
edit - maybe this should go in Time Out as its not about Guitars, Amps or Effects

the snare on ez drummer sounds so much better. same with the cymbals. it seems on the addictive drums sample that whenever a kick and a cymbal is played it just can't take it and the cymbal suffers. i actually like the kick in ezdrummer better, it just sounds wooden because they are all the same velocity.
gahh really can't wait for superior 2.0..

Yeah, I see what you mean. I think addictive drums just needs a load of tweaking and I cant be arsed with that :P EZDrummer sounds great from the start, though I use the 13" slingerland snare because I dont like the default one.
edit - I'm listening back now through headphones and addictive drums just sounds awful to me. Maybe its just the samples on the demo :?

For programming real drum sounds I can't recommend BFD2 highly enough. It really wipes the floor with everything else imo.

Interesting comparison although I think it's a bit unfair as AD isn't really aimed at blast-beat metal. It's probably a lot better if you're doing something a bit more mellow 8)
