Title: Single coil metal
Post by: Lewisgibson on June 04, 2008, 07:12:46 PM
Hi,

Does anyone here play metal with single-coils in a performance setting?

Which sc pickups do you find work well -- BKP or otherwise -- and how do you get the best from them?

I'm used to playing hard rock, but will be ramping it up into Monster Magnet/SOD/Slayer territory and am wondering how far I can go without switching my favourite instrument. Appreciate any experiences you could share.

Out of interest, which guitar is it?

If the pickups are on the scratchplate, like on a strat, then you should be able to get a humbucker in rather easily.

Other than that, the Sinner is a extremely high output single coil, often used for metalz.

yeah - sorry:

I have a homebrew tele-type with a high-output sc bridge and a p-90 neck.

I dunno if it goes it a tele, or if theres an equivelent, BUT the Uber-sinner with a zinc-plated steel base plate will deliver more gain than an 81 (like slayer use), but with a single coil tone.

Trillogy for the neck.

See what tim says about these beasts in a tele version (likely the piledriver is the equivelent and I'm sure the wind can be adapted to crzy-power).

Edit: P90 neck.

Easy

Pig-90.
